Gameweek 10 best wildcard

We look at the Gameweek 10 best wildcard team. Using the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker we can see which teams have the best run of fixtures. This can then aid FPL managers in picking out some of the best assets for the run ahead.

The wildcard gives managers the opportunity to change their entire team for any reason. Managers activate their wildcards for several reasons. Whether that be to target fixture swings or just change their team up, the wildcard can be precious to your planning.

Fixture ticker

Who has the best fixtures?

Crystal Palace, Brighton, Arsenal, West Ham and Burnley all rank amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures for the period ahead.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Chelsea, Luton, Brentford, Manchester City and Manchester United all rank amongst the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures for the period ahead.

Gameweek 10 best wildcard

Goalkeepers

  • Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) & Matt Turner (£4.1m) – Both come in at very cheap price which helps to enable the more expensive options elsewhere in other positions. Both also rotate really well around each others fixtures.

Defenders

  • Gabriel (£4.7m) – Arsenal are sustaining some great data this season and sit second best for expected goals conceded. Because of that and their fixtures it could be worth investing in one of their defenders. Gabriel comes in at a great price and is starting every game for Arsenal.
  • Matty Cash (£5.1m) – Aston Villa still have great fixtures bar Gameweek 13 and 15. Investing in their defence isn’t completely convincing but when you consider that Cash is statistically the best defender offensively based on non-penalty expected goal involvement and attempts on goal he could be a great addition
  • Dan Burn (£4.7m) – Newcastle have good fixtures but they are also maintaining the best defensive line in the league as of late. In fact, in the last eight matches Newcastle have managed a huge six clean sheets. Dan Burn is a cheap and reliable way into the defence.
  • Kostas Tsimikas (£4.5m) – Liverpool have a fantastic schedule ahead and they also have good opportunities to keep clean sheets. Tsimikas is likely to cover for the injured Andy Robertson until he recovers.
  • Vladimir Coufal (£4.6m) – The Hammers also have good fixtures so it could be worth investing in their cheap defence. Coufal offers exactly that. He has also been sustaining a good return rate with four returns in his last five matches.

Midfielders

  • Bukayo Saka (£8.5m) – Arsenal face the worst team in the league next in Sheffield United. They also have good fixtures long-term. With that in mind and the fact he’s bagged seven returns in eight games and takes his sides penalties Saka gets his inclusion.
  • Douglas Luiz (£5.5m) – Aston Villa sit second best for goals scored this season (22). With that, investing in the attack could be ideal. Luiz may be a central midfielder but he takes corners, penalties and has bagged two double-digit hauls this season.
  • Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) – Liverpool’ fixtures are too good to ignore and the safest and most effective way into the frontline is Salah. Not only does he take his sides penalties but he ranks as the highest scoring player in the game so far.
  • Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m) – Brighton’ fixtures are also turning and they come up against some of the worst defences in the league. Their standout attacker is Mitoma who edges all of his offensive teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement this season.
  • James Maddison (£8.1m) – Tottenham are still producing some of the best attacking data in the league so it could be worth holding onto at least one of their assets. Maddison has not only returned in five of his games so far but he sits in the top five players for non-penalty expected goal involvement.

Forwards

  • Ollie Watkins (£8.3m) – There is one big reason as to why Aston Villa have been free-scoring lately and that is because of Watkins. In his first nine matches Watkins has managed to return in all but one including two double-digit hauls in his last three games.
  • Erling Haaland (£14m) – Manchester City’ fixtures may turn sour but their main man and penalty taker Haaland is still maintaining some of the best offensive data points in the league amongst all players.
  • Cameron Archer (£4.5m) – Starts every match for Sheffield United but will likely remain as an unused sub. He helps free up budget to be utilised elsewhere.
