Expert team thoughts for Matchday 6

Last modified date

The new round of World Cup Fantasy is just around the corner. For that reason, we have brought in Fantasy Football Scout and Fantasy Football Community contributor @FPLReactions (Louis) for his expert team thoughts for Matchday 6.

Looking at expert team thoughts for Matchday 6 can be very helpful to other World Cup Fantasy managers. Looking into the thoughts of @FPLReaction can aid with key factors like transfers, chip strategy and captaincy preparations.

Matchday 5 review

Notes

  • Firstly we can see that I finished on 31 points for Matchday 5, which was not good enough.
  • Secondly, my rank took a huge hit from 1k, all of the way down to 3k which is again, not good enough.
  • The only good decisions I made this week were captaining Lionel Messi, keeping Bukayo Saka and substituting Denzel Dumfries off.
  • My main issues were that most of the players with the biggest potential going into Matchday 5 did not perform.
  • It was a poor week with a lot of surprising results and performances and that had a significant impact on my Matchday.

Matchday 6 team

Notes

  • I lost quite a lot of players due to the results in Matchday 6.
  • When it was clear Argentina were progressing during Matchday 5, I used my last transfer to bring in defender Nahuel Molina.
  • I currently have six players for the semi-finals, which isn’t great but I’m also aware many managers are in a much worse position than me.
  • I have five transfers which will take me to 11 playing players. Although that is the case, I will be considering taking hits to increase that.
  • In my opinion, the midfield bracket is lacking options this week. It is likely I concentrate the use of my transfers in my forward and defensive line for that reason.
  • There is one slot available in my front line and I’m deliberating between Olivier Giroud and Julian Alvarez.
  • In defence, it’s likely that I either back Argentina or France, although, I may even split the risk and back both.
  • Captaincy will likely be Lionel Mess and then Kylian Mbappe if Messi fails to return.
