Gameweek 5 review

It was nice to finally make some progress up the rankings in Sky Fantasy football this week. My 80 points took me from 30K to 18K with all but two of my players (Sam Johnstone and Nicolas Jackson) returning points. The former managed to go from nine points to zero points in added on time which wasn’t ideal. He is firmly on the transfer out list.

I bought Taiwo Awoniyi for Ollie Watkins on Monday night and was immediately rewarded with 10 point return. All being well, I’ve got my captain in place for the Forest v Brentford single game day. Watkins was a reluctant sell but I think going forward I want Moussa Diaby as my Villa asset who is cheaper and looks more explosive.

GW6 Captains & Transfers

This weekend promises to be a busy one in terms of transfers with 10 teams playing on the Sunday. I’ll be making use of Newcastle’s fixture against Sheffield United to move Johnstone on Nick Pope ahead of Newcastle’s brilliant fixture run. I’m also considering buying Mo Salah for Bukayo Saka or Marcus Rashford. I know for sure I want Mo going forward so I’m tempted to bite the bullet and move this weekend. He would be my Sunday captain with a doubt, making the lack of fixture gain (in the case of Saka) easier to swallow.

Turning attentions back to Saturday, Erling Haaland at home to Nottingham Forest is an easy captaincy decision. The added bonus being we see the team sheet. My back up options are Ruben Dias and Marcus Rashford should Haaland be rested.

For managers with any injury issues, maybe if you own Martinelli, seeing the team sheet before Man City v Forest could present opportunities. Julian Alvarez would be top of my list.

Thanks for reading and good luck for the upcoming gameweek! Remember to set your captains and plan your transfers!
