Expert team reveal for Sky Fantasy Gameweek 1

With the deadline inching closer we take a look at an expert team reveal for Sky Fantasy Gameweek 1. Fantasy Football Scout contributor @FFScout_Tom comes in to share his team and explain the rationale behind some of his selections and thoughts.

Which defenders should we pick? Which strikers should be making our squads? Our expert could help bring clarity to Sky Fantasy Gameweek 1 decisions you have to make in your own team to give you an edge over your competition.

Introduction

In this article, I’ll talk through my current draft. This will be very close to my final team, there are just a few spots to sort out. These largely depend on whether Bayern Munich cough up the money for Harry Kane… enjoy!

Gameweek 1 team

Goalkeeper

Matt Turner (£6.1m) is an incredible enabler that covers the single gameday captaincy in GW2. At the time of writing, Turner looks set to join Nottingham Forest after confirmation from top tier source Fabrizio Romano.

Defenders

At the back I’ve gone big with five strong options. Trent Alexander-Arnold (£10.0m) is the most expensive of my ‘big five’. I’m backing the Liverpool man to combine clean sheets and assists with passing tiers from his new midfield position. Ruben Dias (£9.7m) and William Saliba (9.0m) should also combine passing tiers with regular clean sheets. Additionally, they provide back-up captaincy options for Haaland and Saka.

Lewis Dunk (£8.3m) is an auto-pick, he’s ridiculously underpriced for a man who completed the most passes in the League last year. He effectively starts on five points every week! Finally, Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill (£7.5m) completes my defence. He’s very attractively priced and also has great fixtures to start.

Midfielders

Moving onto the midfield, Marcus Rashford (£10.9m) was one of the first names on my team sheet with United’s single gameday versus Wolves on the Monday of GW1. He’s joined by Bukayo Saka (£10.4m), a consistent asset with great fixtures. The Englishman could be sacrificed to fit in Kane, as will be explained later. Marvelous Nakamba (£6.6m) completes the midfield. The Luton enabler looks set to offer tackle tier points at a very attractive price.

Forwards

Erling Haaland (£12.0m) is a no-brainer, especially with a single gameday against Burnley. Joining him in the current draft is Ollie Watkins (£9.3m). The Villa striker is a reliable pick that should tick over consistently with goals and shot tier points. He’s also a great captain for the Sunday of GW2 against Everton.

What about Harry Kane?

In my opinion, Harry Kane (£11.7m) away at Brentford is the best captaincy option on the Sunday of GW1. If reports suggest he is set to stay at Spurs then I want him in my team. In this eventuality, Saka and Watkins can become Kane and Pascal Groß (£8.2m)

That concludes my team reveal! Thanks for reading and happy tinkering – if you need me I’ll be eagerly refreshing ‘X’ (Twitter) for Kane news…
