Gameweek 24 best wildcard

Looking at the Gameweek 24 best wildcard team. Using the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker we can see which teams have the best run of fixtures. This can then aid FPL managers in picking out some of the best assets for the run ahead.

The wildcard gives managers the opportunity to change their entire team for any reason. Managers activate their wildcards for several reasons. Whether that be to target fixture swings or just change their team up, the wildcard can be precious to our planning.

Fixture ticker

We can see from the ticker below, the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures, whilst the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures up to Gameweek 29 (a six match period).

Who has the best fixtures?

Arsenal, Wolves, Everton, Southampton and Tottenham all make up top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Newcastle, Manchester United, Bournemouth, Fulham and Nottingham Forest all make up the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures.

The best wildcard team

Goalkeepers

Chelsea have a fixture in blank Gameweek 25 which adds to the appeal of the Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.6m). The Spaniard has the best save rate in the Premier League which has helped him secure 31 points in his last four matches in FPL.

Leicester’s Danny Ward (£4m) makes a solid backup to Kepa in the unlikely even he doesn’t feature.

Defenders

Arsenal rank first on the fixture ticker whilst also having a double Gameweek ahead. For that reason it could be worth investing in their defence. Gabriel (£5.2m) ranks as the second best centre back in the league this season for expected goal involvement (3.29).

Chelsea have some great long term fixtures and with full-back Reece James (£5.8m) back to full fitness he could be one of the most exciting additions the squad when considering he picked up 14 goal contributions in his last campaign.

Liverpool face a Newcastle that have failed to score in half of their last six matches. The Reds also have a double Gameweek ahead along with key players returning to the squad after injury. It could be a wise move to include left-back Andrew Robertson (£6.8m).

Everton have a double Gameweek in Gameweek 25 so it could be beneficial to include one of their cheap defenders. James Tarkowski (£4.2m) showed his potential in Gameweek 22, picking up a huge 15-pointer for his goal and clean sheet. Tarkowski can be rotated in when double Gameweek arrives.

Wolves also have a double Gameweek ahead and like Everton have a real aerial threat. Craig Dawson (£4.8m) picked up a 12-point return in Gameweek 22 for his goal and clean sheet. He will also be rotated in for his double Gameweek.

Midfielder

Only Manchester United have scored more goals than Brighton in the last six matches, which indicates that investing in their attack a wise move. Kaoru Mitoma (£5.3m) has blanked just twice in his last six matches. Mitoma will be benched for Gameweek 25 but then has a double Gameweek in Gameweek 27.

It could be extremely difficult to leave out Marcus Rashford (£7.3m). The Manchester United midfielder has picked up five returns in his last six matches, making him one of the most in-form players in the league.

Newcastle’s defensive stats have been slipping over their last two matches and with Liverpool’s double Gameweek coming up, there could be an opportunity to get Mohamed Salah in early (£12.6m). The Egyptian hit 11 points in his last match so the hope is he kicks on from there to extend that.

In the last six matches Arsenal rank second for attempts on goal (108) and first for shots in the box (78) so investing in their attack could be key. Martin Ødegaard (£7m) can be explosive and he’s shown that with his six double-digit hauls already this season.

Fulham’s Andreas Pereira (£4.4m) not only enables the rest of the team but has picked up nine returns this season including one double-digit haul. Pereira plays in blank Gameweek 25 so will also help bench another play who doesn’t play.

Forwards

Erling Halaand (£12.2m) continues to be an absolute essential moving forward. The Manchester City striker is maintaining some great offensive stats and he also stands out as one of the best captaincy option every Gameweek he plays in.

Arsenal face some of the worst defences in the league over the next several Gameweeks and their double Gameweek looks very appealing. Eddie Nketiah (£6.8m) ranks first amongst all players in the last six matches for non penalty expected goal involvement (4.79).

Brentford may blank in Gameweek 25 but they face some of the defences in the league over the next period whilst also having a double Gameweek in Gameweek 27. Their star man Ivan Toney (£7.6m) is their standout option, returning in 11 of his 20 matches this season already.
