Community Team Reveal Gameweek 35 – Marc Jobling

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 35, it’s the turn of Marc Jobling to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi Marc and thanks for the team reveal. So how did Gameweek 34 go?

Terribly – it’s been a rubbish end to the season. There’s still Brighton v Man City tonight, where I have Erling Haaland. But every week for a while has either brought stagnation or a drop that felt impossible with such a template squad.

I’ll reveal my upcoming Wildcard below but, as an act of rebellion, there’s an increasing temptation to fill it with injured players, suspensions and rubbish like Darwin Nunez.

What does your defence look like?

The pick of Jan Paul van Hecke is disliked and I’m hoping to rearrange things so that he can make way. But using a Gameweek 37 Bench Boost makes backline selection difficult.

Not having a second Arsenal defender has been damaging of late but, looking forward, it’s probably too late to jump onto that. Instead, it’ll be bargain names like Malo Gusto, Dan Burn and Micky van de Ven alongside Gabriel.

Man United’s defence is awful but Andre Onana should pick up at least one clean sheet, as well as plenty of saves.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

My front three is straightforward: Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak and Nicolas Jackson. Each has great fixtures surrounding Double Gameweek 37, although the Chelsea forward is slightly risky. Perhaps he could become a cheap third forward like Joao Pedro, allowing a strong five-man midfield.

You see, I don’t like that the above selection has no Phil Foden or Anthony Gordon. There’s also an immediate benching dilemma because Alejandro Garnacho is at home to Burnley – surely this fixture demands a start?

Mohamed Salah is getting ditched in many online Wildcards and that’s understandable. My recent purchase of him was one of many that quickly became a regret. No more doubles are coming but I can afford him. Sacrificing the Egyptian for better Bench Boost squad depth with cause so many headaches in the other weeks.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 35 and beyond?

In theory, this 15-man squad looks superb for each of the final four weeks. I don’t have any pre-planned transfers, meaning I can either react to injury news or make one-week switches.

Finally, what about captaincy?

I think this week’s armband probably needs to go on a Chelsea or Spurs asset, as they’re the only sides to feature twice. Their defences are poor, whittling it down to Jackson, Cole Palmer or Son Heung-min.

Therefore it has to be Palmer, really.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
