Fantasy Premier League: Best Differentials for Gameweek 29

The new round of FPL is edging closer so in this article we take a look at some of the best differentials for Gameweek 29. We do this with the help of the Official Fantasy Football page and the tools in the Fantasy Football Scout members area.

Differentials are players who have less than 10% ownership. If successful they help to gain both rank and an edge in your mini-leagues. With that in mind lets take a look at four of the best differentials for Gameweek 29.

Yoane Wissa – 5.3% Ownership

Brentford are in a torrid run of form currently – having lost four of their last five league matches. However, one part of their game that isn’t lost is their ability to score goals – having netted two in three of their last six games. The Bees become even more interesting this week when taking into account their upcoming opposition.

Burnley lay ahead for Brentford, a team who sit 19th in league. The promoted side have been woeful defensively so far this season. In fact, not only do they rank the second worst team in the league for goals conceded but they are amongst the worst three teams for total attempts on goal conceded and total shots in the box conceded.

Many will go into the new round with Ivan Toney at the fore-front of their minds. However, one player seems to be going under the radar recently and that is Yoane Wissa (£5.6m). Wissa doesn’t just come in considerably cheaper than his teammate but he is also in better recent form with three returns on the bounce. He even edges Toney for non-penalty expected goal involvement in the last six Gameweeks. Taking into account both his form and fixture, Wissa could be an excellent differential for those trying to gain rank this week.

Brennan Johnson – 0.8% Ownership

Tottenham assets are probably going to take most of the limelight this week. This is mainly due to their recent form – winning four of their last six matches and scoring between 2-4 goals in five of the same games. In addition, in terms of attacking data this season they sit amongst the best six sides for key metrics like goals scored, total attempts on goal, shots in the box and shots on target.

Tottenham don’t just have a fixture this week but it’s arguably a good one. Fulham are up next and although impressive at times the Cottagers have been inconsistent recently. Statistically overall Fulham also rank in the worst six teams when focusing on metrics like shots in the box conceded and big chances conceded.

FPL managers will be, and rightly so, targeting the likes of Son Heung-Min and James Maddison. But, one player who could escape many thoughts is midfielder Brennan Johnson (£5.8m). The injury to Richarlison has opened up a slot in the starting line-up and one that Johnson filled in his sides most recent match.  Form also backs Johnson, as in his last six matches he has conjured three goals and two assists. The in-form Welshman shouldn’t be overlooked this week as he looks to extend his recent impressive run.

Mohammed Kudus – 4.4% Ownership

West Ham have been given a massive boost recently. The return of Lucas Paqueta seems to have given the Hammers a major boost in terms results. Claiming seven points from a possible nine has been extremely important for West Ham but one other thing they have improved hugely on is how many goals they are scoring. In fact, since Paqueta returned from injury West Ham have found the net nine times.

Aston Villa are up next for West Ham, and although tough on paper, things haven’t been going to plan for Aston Villa defensively. Injuries have plagued their backline into conceding a huge eight goals in their last three matches. It may get even tougher for Villa this week as they are going to be without key midfielder John McGinn as well.

Most looking to invest in the West Ham attack will of course go for Jarrod Bowen. However, bettering Bowen when it comes to some attacking data recently is Mohammed Kudus (£6.8m). The Ghanian edged his teammate for underlying metrics like total attempts on goal, big chances total, shots in the box and chances created in the last six Gameweeks. Kudus has also picked up two returns in his last three matches which highlights his good recent output.

Rodrigo Muniz – 3.1% Ownership

Fulham are one of those teams who have been tough to predict in terms of results this season. The Cottagers have been hit and miss and we can see that same trend in the fact they have won two and lost two of their last four matches. That may be the case but Fulham have also proven themselves offensively – scoring seven goals in the same four matches. Fulham take their scoring confidence into the Blank Gameweek when they come up against Tottenham.

Although offensively exciting, the way Tottenham play makes them highly susceptible to conceding goals, at least two goals in five of their last 10 matches to be precise. This could give the Fulham frontline enough potential to invest.

One player we should consider this week is striker Rodrigo Muniz. Muniz comes in at a jaw dropping £4.5m which makes him a good long-term option, especially when you consider that Fulham rank second best on the fixture ticker over the next five matches. His form and output should also take focus because in the last six league matches he has collected an impressive five goals and one assist.
