Community Team Reveal Gameweek 28 – Marc Jobling

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 28, it’s the turn of Marc Jobling to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi Marc and thanks for the team reveal. So how did Gameweek 27 go?

Another red arrow unfortunately, that’s three in a row. The 32k after Gameweek 24 has already doubled to 65k and – like last week – I’m a bit crushed because suddenly greens feel impossible.

This time, I was able to field a full XI and avoid taking any hits but the final score of 75 was harmed by continuing defensive woes.

What does your defence look like?

Only having one Arsenal name at the back is becoming a problem. Their Monday night clean sheet was one of the most predictable you’ll ever see and, rather than benefit from either a second Gunner or Virgil van Dijk, I’m stuck with the rubbish of Pervis Estupinan and an injured Pedro Porro.

Ezri Konsa made his comeback and reached the hour mark without conceding until Aston Villa let in two.

Yet the main pain came in goal. Gut instinct said that Alphonse Areola would succeed because Everton have the out-of-form Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front (they didn’t). I chose Martin Dubravka anyway who, in fairness, kept a clean sheet. But the benched Areola bagged 13 points thanks to a penalty stop, nine saves and all bonuses.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

It’s still a template selection, which is both good and bad. It means there’s not much to fear elsewhere but very little to gain when names like Ollie Watkins and Phil Foden haul.

I thought buying Son Heung-min would’ve very briefly made him a differential but, such is the mainstream nature of FPL and its content creators, word spread quite quickly.

His international team-mate Hwang Hee-chan is seemingly out for many weeks but there’s not yet an urgency to sell.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 28 and beyond?

I aim to Wildcard in Gameweek 33 but the plan to sell Foden for Mohamed Salah in Gameweek 30 suddenly makes me uncomfortable.

As a Free Hit 29 user, this transfer isn’t limited to eight teams. There’s definitely some FOMO about not having Alfie Doughty, knowing he’s about to play three times in a period where 11 sides only appear once. But I prefer Bournemouth’s short-term fixtures, so it might be Illia Zabarnyi.

Assuming no more injuries come up, of course!

Finally, what about captaincy?

There are slight nerves over Dominic Solanke’s knee situation but, should we hear of no more problems, I’m handing him my armband. It’s just impossible to resist a Double Gameweek at home to Sheffield United and Luton.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
