The new round of Premier League is ahead. With that in mind and with the help of Fantasy Football Scout, we have dug into the data and plucked out some of best player versus team stats to reveal the best players for Gameweek 20.

Taking a look back at the head-to-head data to find some of the best players for Gameweek 20 could be really helpful to managers. Picking out assets who have great records against their upcoming opponent can help with transfers, captaincy and even chip strategy.

Note: You can find all of the best players in each position for the round ahead based on current data in our FPL Top Picks for Gameweek 20 article.

Raheem Sterling v Luton

Chelsea have a great opportunity to correct their poor recent form this week. The Blues face Luton next up and one of their players in particular has a very good record against promoted sides.

As we can see, between 2019-2021 Raheem Sterling played 11 matches against promoted sides. In that period he banked a return in nine of them – including three double-digit hauls.

Sterling also managed a huge 35 points against promoted sides for Chelsea last season. His points came from two goals and two assists. What is even more interesting is the fact Sterling also collected a huge 19 points against Luton this season.

Ollie Watkins v Burnley

Aston Villa will be hoping to bounce back at home after their recent slump. Ollie Watkins looks to be the man to do that as we can see from below. In the seven matches Watkins played against promoted sides between 2020-2021 he picked up a returns in five if them.

Erling Haaland

Manchester City are another side who will be looking to string together a run of wins. Sheffield United lay ahead who have been producing the worst defensive data in the league this season.

To target the poor Sheffield United defence Manchester City benefit from the return of their star man Erling Haaland. Below is a graphic of the highest scoring FPL players against promoted sides last season. You can also see that Haaland sits joint top of the list with 47 points.

Son Heung-Min v Bournemouth

Bournemouth could be a tough test for Tottenham this week. The Cherries have won five of their last six matches. That may be the case but Bournemouth still rank fourth worst in the division for goals conceded this season.

Son Heung-Min seems to be the main man at Tottenham this season and that may not change this week. We can see that in the eight matches Son faced Bournemouth between 2016-2019 he hit four returns and they were all double-digits.

Mohamed Salah v Newcastle

Liverpool have a huge game against Newcastle next up regards to their title challenge. The Reds have been maintaining some fantastic attacking data recently and one player who keeps benefitting is Mohamed Salah.

Last season Salah was one of the highest earners against Newcastle – hitting 16 points due to three assists.

Interestingly between 2017-2021 Salah played 10 matches against Newcastle and returned in six of them.
