Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 38?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 38.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over their last four games:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over these four:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least 10 shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.10
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.30

This goes out before Mohamed Salah plays at Aston Villa, giving himself a chance to leave this list. He’d join Dominic Solanke and Rodrigo Muniz in the departure lounge.

The Bournemouth forward had a goal ruled on Saturday whilst Fulham’s frontman followed last week’s sole shot with another one, losing his previous form.

There’ll also be three midweek fixtures that could subsequently remove Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro, Antony and Anthony Garnacho.

Chelsea’s Palmer isn’t exactly out of form, he’s just calmed down with the overwhelming double-digit hauls. Antony was restricted to a cameo role against Arsenal and fellow Brazilian Pedro missed out completely with an ankle issue.

As for Garnacho, he continues to have lots of penalty area action. Since Gameweek 11, nobody in the league has more touches inside the box (222) and he’s joint-third for shots (66) from there.

Elsewhere, Chris Wood had a four-game streak of goals but is without one in five despite having eight big chances. A trio of these came on Saturday versus Chelsea.

Jarrod Bowen is the Gameweek’s biggest xG underachiever so far, having racked up a 1.44 tally in his Luton blank. He was another to miss three big chances, although any temptation to purchase such a goal threat is dented by West Ham’s final day trip to Man City.

Cheap forwards Cameron Archer and Lyle Foster are already relegated. The latter had no shots away to Tottenham.
