Fantasy Premier League Planning for Gameweek 20 and 21

We take a look at Fantasy Premier League planning Gameweek 20 and 21. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise its fixture ticker and underlying stats to pick out the best teams and players to target for the Gameweeks ahead.

Fantasy Premier League planning for Gameweek 20 and 21 can be absolutely vital to the success of any given managers season. The early stage of the campaign is one of the most important periods in FPL so being able to target the right teams and players could be key.

African Cup of Nations & Asian Cup

Both competitions start during Gameweek 21 which means the following FPL assets will be not be playing for their clubs from Gameweek 21 and onwards:

  • Simon Adingra (Brighton)
  • Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton)
  • Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea)
  • Idrissa Gueye (Everton)
  • Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
  • Raya Ait Nouri (Wolves)
  • Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace)
  • Chieck Doucoure (Crystal Palace)
  • Andre Onana (Manchester United)
  • Yves Bissouma (Tottenham)
  • Pape Matar Sarr (Tottenham)
  • Son Heung-Mmin (Tottenham)
  • Hamed Traore (Bourmemouth)
  • Antoine Semenyo (Bouremouth)
  • Dango Outtarra (Bournemouth)
  • Yoane Wissa (Brentford)
  • Mohammed Kudus (West Ham)
  • Said Benrahma (West Ham)
  • Hwang Hee-Chan (Wolves)

Avoiding all of the above players from Gameweek 21 and onwards is wise.

Gameweek 20 & 21 Fixtures

Who has the best fixtures?

Chelsea, Brentford, Aston Villa, Luton and Arsenal rank in the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Newcastle, Sheffield United, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Fulham all rank in the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures.

Who are the best teams to invest in?

  • Chelsea – The Blues have two great fixtures ahead against Fulham and Luton. Although inconsistent the Chelsea assets come in at a great price. They have also shown strength against weaker sides this season. In goal managers could opt for Djordje Petrovic (£4.5m). He has been covering for the injured Robert Sanchez who is expect6ted to be out until February. In defence we could opt for left-back Levi Colwill (£4.6m) who seems preferred ahead of other options. Reece James’ injury has opened up a spot for full-back Malo Gusto (£4.1m) who could become a mainstay in the backline until James returns. In attack the standout option is midfielder Cole Palmer (£5.6m). He returns this week fresh after a ban in Gameweek 19. An alternative pick could be Raheem Sterling (£7.1m) who also returns after a ban in Gameweek 19. Sterling has returned in both of his last two matches. Another player to watch is striker Christopher Nkunku (£7.4m) who scored in his first feature back from injury.
  • Aston Villa – Burnley and Everton lay ahead for Aston Villa. Villa have won all but one of their matches at home this season which reflects the fantastic run they are on. In defence one of the safest options in terms of minutes is Ezri Konsa (£4.6m). Fellow teammate and centre-back Pau Torres (£4.7m) could be the standout defensive picks when he returns from injury. Torres has netted twice this season so also has some goal threat. In attack Aston Villa have two great midfielder options. One of those options is Leon Bailey (£5.6m) who seems to be the preferred winger in terms of minutes. Bailey also picked up six returns in his last 10 matches. The second midfield option is Douglas Luiz (£5.5m). Luiz takes his sides penalties which is huge appeal. The standout attacker is Ollie Watkins (£8.8m) who is having an excellent season so far. Watkins could be an essential for the run ahead.

Other teams and players to invest in

  • Arsenal – Gabriel (£4.9m), William Saliba (£5.5m), Bukayo Saka (£9m) and Gabriel Jesus (£8m).
  • West Ham – Jarrod Bowen (£7.8m).
  • Liverpool – Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.3m).
  • Manchester City – Erling Haaland (£13.9m), Phil Foden (£7.6m) and Julian Alvarez (£6.8m).
  • Tottenham – Pedro Porro (£5.6m), Richarlison (£6.8m) and Dejan Kulusevski (£7.2m).

Should we use a chip?

We should also include the use of chips in our Fantasy Premier League planning for Gameweek 20 and 21. The most experienced managers usually use their Bench Boost, Triple Captain and Free Hit chip during medium or large blank and double Gameweeks. Holding onto your chips until those rounds arrive could be hugely beneficial.
