The most creative players of FPL so far

With Gameweek 12 completed, it’s worth checking out who the most creative FPL players of 2023/24 have been.

Using some underlying stats from the FPL website and Fantasy Football Scout’s members area, here are some stand-out players.

ASSISTS

8Neto, Watkins
6Trippier, Alvarez, Diaby, Maddison, Darwin, Saka
5Doku, Gallagher, Ward-Prowse
4Salah, Gordon, Szoboszlai, Sterling, Coufal

Once Pedro Neto (£5.6m) returns from the injury which has recently kept him out, it’ll be interesting to see if he can continue his eight-match streak of FPL returns.

Both he and Ollie Watkins (£8.4m) lead the way for assists, with special mentions going to Darwin Nunez (£7.5m) and Jeremy Doku (£6.7m). They’re on six and five respectively, despite playing the equivalent of just 7.00 and 6.24 full matches.

In defence, Kieran Trippier (£7.0m) has racked up his own half-dozen, with Vladimir Coufal (£4.6m) on four.

EXPECTED ASSISTS (xA)

FPL most creative

On the other hand, nobody exceeds 4.00 for expected assists. Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m) is underachieving when comparing his 3.81 xA to the reality of two. Then you Trippier going the other way, outperforming his six by +2.20.

Furthermore, Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) and Bryan Mbeumo (£6.8m) further cement themselves as brilliant FPL assets by being good at both goals and set-ups.

The next-best xA amongst defenders is Lucas Digne (£4.7m, 2.28), then Kristoffer Ajer (£4.5m, 1.85), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.9m, 1.84) and Pedro Porro (£5.2m, 1.74).

CHANCES CREATED

FPL most creative

Like last season, Trippier is the outstanding FPL player for chance creation, with the likes of Fernandes, James Ward-Prowse (£6.1m) and Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) usually nearby. An injury to James Maddison (£7.9m) will take him away from the FPL community until January.

Owned by over 30% of managers, Man City forward Julian Alvarez (£7.1m) tends to be more of a creator than a goal threat. Joint-sixth for chances created (27), he’s only amassed three big ones for himself.

Luton wing-back Alfie Doughty (£4.4m) is the second-best defender in a couple of categories. 25 chances created, at a rate of once every 32.44 minutes. Pre-injury, Pervis Estupinan (£5.0m) and Ben Chilwell (£5.4m) provided one per 38 and 40 minutes.
