Best Budget Players So Far

In this article we take a look at the best budget players in FPL so far. Budget players have proven to be very important to us this season. The rise in stock of both Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah combined has meant that cheap players are vital to our season.

Looking back at the best budget players so far could be extremely useful during the international break. Pauses in the domestic season have become a very good time to plan for the rest of the season in regards to everything from chip use to transfers.

Bryan Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo started his 23/24 campaign at just £6.5m in FPL. It’s been a fantastic season for the Brentford midfielder so far. Mbeumo sits as the sixth highest scoring player in the game due to his consistency.

In terms of his 74 points, a large portion of them came from his six goals, three assists and nine bonus points. Mbeumo does have a Blank Gameweek ahead, however, he also has matches against Luton, Sheffield United, Wolves, Nottingham Forest and the potential to have a Double Gameweek.

Moussa Diaby

Another midfielder who started the season with a £6.5m price-tag is this man. Moussa Diaby has made a strong start to life at Aston Villa and he’s also become a very good option in FPL. So far Diaby has racked up a cool 65 points in the game.

In the 12 matches he has played Diaby has scored three goals, created six assists and notched up five bonus points. He’s been a very good budget option so far but his rise in price to £6.8m and his fixtures ahead against the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City, Arsenal and Brentford could be enough to avoid him.

Joachim Anderson

The best budget defender of the season so far is Joachim Andersen and there’s little doubt about that. The centre-back came into the game with a £4.5m price-tag and his consistency has led to a £0.6m rise up to £5.1m.

So far Andersen has collected 60 points – making him the second highest scoring defender in the game currently. The bulk of his points came from two goals, one assist, five clean sheets and nine bonus points. The Danish international has matches against Luton, Bournemouth and West Ham next but the thought of buying him at the price he has risen to now could put managers off.

Douglas Luiz

Aston Villa have been one of the best sides to invest in so far this season due to blistering start to the new campaign. One of the standouts so far is this man. Douglas Luiz started at just £5.5m but has continued to go under the radar – rising just once by £0.1m.

Douglas Luiz has so far accumulated a massive 60 points – with five goals, one assist and two bonus. We have already seen that the Aston Villa schedule gets increasingly tougher moving forward so it could be time to look elsewhere.

Mathias Jensen

Four of our top five budget players so far reside in just two teams which is reflective of their form. Brentford’ second addition is midfielder Mathias Jensen. Jensen came into the game priced at just £5.5m but his performances have interestingly seen him drop to £5.4m.

Jensen bagged a cool 58 points in his first 12 matches – scoring three goals, producing three assists and picking up eight bonus points. Similar to teammate Mbeumo Jensen has some great fixtures ahead which could be a great opportunity to add to his very good start to the new season.

Who else has proven to be excellent value for money?

  • Anthony Gordon – The Newcastle midfielder started the campaign at just £5.5m. Since then he has secured 56 points due to his four goals, four assists and three bonus. Gordon has a great run of fixtures ahead overall but first must face matches against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
  • Hwang Hee-chan – Midfielders have been the most effective FPL assets so far this season and that continues with the Wolves man. Hee-chan’ (£5.5m) 56 points mainly come from scoring six goals, registering two assists and bagging five bonus. Wolves also have good fixtures ahead against teams like Fulham, Burnley and Nottingham Forest in the run ahead.
  • Dominic Solanke – The Bournemouth striker started the campaign at £6.5m. Although Solanke dropped to £6.4m he has racked up a solid six goals, one assist and six bonus so far. A huge 13 of his points came in his most recent game against Newcastle where he netted a brace and three bonus. Bournemouth play Sheffield United, Aston Villa, Luton and Fulham in their next seven matches so Solanke has some fine opportunities to add to his tally.
