Serie A Fantasy Expert Team Reveal for Round 19

Get ready for the new fixtures as we take a look at a Serie A Fantasy expert team reveal for Round 19 provided by regular @FPL_Crisk. He also shares his general thoughts around captaincy and his initial plans for the blank and double Rounds ahead.

Checking out a Serie A Fantasy expert team reveal for Round 19 can be extremely beneficial for other fantasy managers. Twitter is full of some of the most experienced fantasy managers around so catching up with their plans could help bring clarity within our own teams.

Introduction

Welcome to my Serie A Fantasy expert team reveal for Round 19. Unfortunately Nick is sick (get well soon bro). So, it is up to me to give you a look into my team and my future plans. Last Round I got 66 points, just above the average of 57, remaining steady with my rank at 324 OR.

This team reveal is not going to be just about Round 19, though. In what is a first for Italian football, the Italian Supercup has forced four scheduled fixtures for Round 21 to be moved from the third weekend of January. This means we will have a Blank in Round 21 for eight teams (Inter, Napoli, Lazio, Fiorentina, Atalanta, Sassuolo, Torino and Bologna). Those games will then be played in two double gameweeks (Round 24 and Round 26). I will try to explain my thoughts on how to deal with those fixtures below.

Round 19 Team Reveal (subject to change)

Gameweek 19 plans

  • At this moment in time I have no transfers planned. I have just one transfer available before hits, and with the blank approaching (I have 8/13 outfield players blanking). I want as much time and transfers as possible to plan my moves. Despite wanting Lautaro back in the team as soon as possible (I have over 7m itb), I want to first be sure 100% of what strategy I’m going to use to deal with blanks and doubles.
  • I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s first talk about my team right now. Between the posts I have the top scoring player in the game, Yann Sommer. As you can see, he’s most likely going to be my captain as Inter face Verona (second worst attack) at home. I’ve already trusted the Swiss goalie with the armband during the last few weeks with overall great success.
  • My situation doesn’t allow me to field many defenders. Tomori is ruled out long term and Scalvini is a doubt for Sunday’s game vs Roma. I usually like to play with a back four. But, this week I’ll trust the two top scoring defenders (Bremer and Buongiorno) and Di Lorenzo to hopefully bring me 20-25 points.
  • Thankfully my midfield looks pretty good. There Rabiot and Soulé scored last week, Orsolini has returned from injury (with Bologna eager to bounce back after being demolished by Udinese), and Berardi who could haul every single gameweek.
  • If I had a transfer to use Berardi would probably be the one to go. He would exit for someone like Pulisic or Kvara/Leao. But, since it’s all about planning for the blank I’m ok with him staying.
  • This is one of the rare cases in which I’m playing with all three strikers. Luckily I managed to get the three highest scoring forwards after Lautaro, so I still feel like my ceiling is high. I’m not expecting a green arrow. However, I would be pretty happy and satisfied if my rank stayed under 500 OR before the blank.

Blank and Double Gameweek plans

  • There are two viable options and both require the use of the WC chip. We only get one wildcard for the whole season. The fact you can roll multiple transfers makes the Wildcard easier to hold onto.
  • I could use my WC in Round 21 in order to have a viable team for the blank. At the same time I could start to build the squad for the doubles with the four benched players. In total this would allow me to have a good enough number of players during the two DGWs (about three players for Round 24 involving only Fiorentina and Bologna, and about 6-9 players for the big double in Round 26). This also lets me navigate this these two Rounds easier, letting me dead-end in Round 20.
  • Another plan is I could dead end the team in the blank Round, and using the WC immediately after in Round 21 to jump back on the template players that blanked immediately after (like Inter, Napoli and Atalanta assets). This guarantees a more efficient way to deal with the doubles, at the cost of risking to play Round 21 with less than 11 players unless I take a couple of hits.
  • I am currently unsure which plan to opt for. I will probably make a draft for each scenario and in the end decide which one satisfies me the most. But what if you already used your WC? It depends, but I think the situation is manageable. With only six fixtures in Round 21, I don’t expect the average score to be very high. So, you could bench your big template players like Lautaro and Kvaratskhelia and play with nine or 10. This means that you wouldn’t lose too much ground while at the same time being in a similar position to everyone else as far as the doubles are concerned, because you would have enough doublers.
  • If you have to fall behind, make sure you get the red arrow in the low scoring Round, in order to have the biggest chance to rise once again during the doubles.
  • That’s it from me this week. Hopefully next week Nick will feel better and you’ll also have his approach to this devastating run of games.
  • Good luck to everyone!
