Gameweek 3 best free hit team

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 3 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all.

Fixtures

Who has the best fixtures?

Chelsea, Man United, Everton, Manchester City and Aston Villa all rank amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Sheffield United, Fulham, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle all rank amongst the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures.

The best free hit team

Using the Live FPL website we can use one of its fantastic tools to plan transfers weeks in advance. Not just this, but we can also create team drafts to plan for using a chip. Take a look at the best free hit team for Gameweek 3:

Goalkeepers

  • Robert Sanchez (£4.5m) – Chelsea have an excellent opportunity to bounce back this week as they face newly promoted side Luton. The Hatters are yet to convince from an offensive point of view and so it could be a great chance for The Blues to keep the clean sheet.
  • Alphonse Areola (£4m) – One of two £4m playing goalkeepers in the game. He will only feature in the unlikely event that Sanchez does not.

Defence

  • Ben Chilwell (£5.7m) – Finding a convincing way into the Chelsea frontline could be difficult so bringing Ben Chilwell in could be a great way to do that. The left-back has been playing in an advanced role, takes corners and has also bagged a goal and two assists in his last seven matches (including pre-season).
  • William Saliba (£5.1m) – Arenal maintained some fantastic defensive data last season and they also face a side who have departed with their top scorer from last season. There is a good chance of an Arsenal clean sheet this week and one of their most reliable defenders in terms of minutes looks to be Saliba.
  • Pervis Estupinan (£5.1m) – Brighton have scored more goals than any other team in the league so far and also sustained great defensive data last campaign. One way to benefit from both is with Estupinan who amongst all defenders in the league so far ranks first for chances created (eight) and first for attempts on goal (five).
  • Destiny Udogie (£4.5m) – Tottenham have a great fixture in Gameweek 3 against Bournemouth. One player who has impressed is attacking full-back Udogie. He sits on the bench ready if needed.
  • Rico Henry (£4.6m) – Henry has a great fixture and solid distribution data. However, he is unlikely to feature.

Midfield

  • Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) – Fulham ranked as the joint worst team in the league for big chances conceded last season. Because of this Arsenal’ standout attacker and penalty taker is an easy inclusion.
  • Phil Foden (£7.5m) – The Manchester City frontline is one of the most efficient in the league so investment, other than the obvious, could be hugely rewarding this week. Key injuries and departures mean Foden could have steady gametime.
  • Richarlison (£7m) – Tottenham face a Bournemouth side who have conceded more attempts on goal than any other team in the division so far. With this in mind it could be worth targeting the focal point to the rejuvenated Spurs frontline.
  • Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) – At the time of writing, no player in the entire game has amassed more non-penalty expected goal involvement than Bruno Fernandes (2.12). Not only does he take penalties but he also faces a ropey Nottingham Forest defence next up.
  • Bryan Mbeumo (£6.5m) – Mbeumo sits as first sub on the bench. He currently ranks as the highest scoring player in the game after scoring three goals in his first two matches. Managers can bring him into the first 11 if they choose.

Forwards

  • Nicolas Jackson (£7m) – With Luton up next Chelsea have a very good chance at finding form. Amongst all teams in the league in Gameweek 1 Luton ranked the worst for key attacking data points conceded. Jackson impressed during pre-season and also leads the Chelsea frontline.
  • Julian Alvarez (£6.5m) – The Sheffield United fixture looks too good for Manchester City as the Blades rank in the worst four teams for attempts and shots in the box conceded. Another Manchester City attacker benefitting from recent departure is Alvarez who has picked up a return in both of his first two matches.
  • Erling Haaland (£14m) – Leading the ruthless Manchester City frontline is the relentless Norwegian. He takes his sides penalties and is by far the best option for captaincy this week.
