FPL: @FPLReaction’ Top Three Picks for Gameweek 28

The new round of Fantasy Premier League is edging closer so we invited regular contributor and fantasy football whizz @FPLReaction to reveal his top three picks for Gameweek 28. His picks are all players he thinks are going under the radar for the round ahead.

Seeing @FPLReaction’ top three picks for Gameweek 28 could be extremely enlightening. As we approach the deadline many within the community may be unsure when it comes to which players to buy. These three picks could help bring clarity around those decisions.

The Obvious Options

  • Bukayo Saka (£9.2m)
  • Gabriel (£5.3m)
  • Dominic Solanke (£7.2m)
  • Neto (£4.6m)
  • Cole Palmer (£5.7m)
  • Carlton Morris (£5.2m)
  • Ross Barkley (£5m)
  • Alfie Doughty (£4.7m)
  • Son Heung-Min (£9.8m)
  • Jarrod Bowen (£7.9m)

Kai Havertz

It is safe to say that I never thought I’d be selecting this man as my first pick, like ever. But, It is hard to not recognise how relentless Arsenal have been offensively. Arsenal aren’t just scoring but they are burying teams, beating West Ham 6-0, then Burnley 5-0, then Newcastle 4-1, and then Sheffield United 6-0.

The above is fine for FPL because everyone owns Bukayo Saka. That however is a big problem, because we aren’t benefitting from all of these goals at all. So, what do we do if we want to benefit from Arsenal pumping teams every week? Well it could be to buy Kai Havertz (£7.1m).

Although Havertz has traumatised us in the past, he seems to be settling or at least entering some sort of purple patch. The German hasn’t just returned in all of his last three matches on the bounce but he has also managed three double-digit hauls. Form is there for Havertz but he also plays up front for Arsenal and faces a Brentford side who have shipped 11 goals in their last four matches next up. Havertz, reluctantly (being a Chelsea fan), takes the first slot amongst my top three picks for Gameweek 28.

Antoine Semenyo

My next pick isn’t just a great pick for the round ahead but also long-term, especially for those that do not plan to use the Wildcard soon. Firstly Bournemouth play twice this week and that makes them one of the best teams to invest in.

Bournemouth don’t just play twice this week but they play both Sheffield United and Luton. Both teams have proven to be defensively woeful this season and overall rank in the worst three teams for a lot of the key defensive metrics.

Whilst many try to pick out a midfielder some could look to forward Antoine Semenyo. Semenyo comes in at a jaw-dropping £4.5m, meaning you will never have to look to take money out of him. The Ghanian has also started the last three of his sides matches whilst registering two goals. Semenyo has the form, schedule, game time and opposition to do well this week and with his price-tag and in his position, why not?

Rodrigo Muniz

It looks like the £4.5m forwards are making an epic comeback. In our next pick we head over to Fulham, a side that have multiple factors backing them over the next several weeks. The Cottagers have been in great scoring form being one of them, scoring 2-3 in four of their last five league matches.

Fulham aren’t just scoring goals but they are also winning matches, three of their last four to be precise. Wolves lay ahead next who have being very hit and miss recently. We can see that in their recent form: L, W,L,W,W,L. During those same six matches they also conceded a huge 12 goals, highlighting them as a team to target. It is worth adding that Fulham also face Tottenham in the big Blank Gameweek and then Sheffield United immediately after that.

Lots of things point towards buying a Fulham player and one in particular stands out, Rodrigo Muniz (£4.5m). Firstly in terms of gametime, Muniz has started his last five matches on the bounce. That looks like it could continue as well taking into account his recent form. The 22-year-old Brazilian has managed a huge 42 points in his last five matches. His points came from five goals and an assist.
