Notes

  • GW14 wasn’t kind to me. I benched Charlie Taylor’s 10-pointer and transferred out Ollie Watkins for Darwin Nuñez!
  • Captain Erling Haaland and Son Heung-Min limited the damage on Sunday. But, I still recorded a ~100k red arrow down to an OR of ~270k.
  • For GW15, Alphonse Areola will once again start between the sticks. Although, I’ve long given up hope of him keeping a clean sheet! With Nick Pope potentially facing a spell on the side-lines, I may soon turn to Martin Dúbravka as a cheap alternative.
  • In defence, none of Kostas Tsimikas, William Saliba or Gabriel kept a clean sheet in GW14, with only Tsimikas returning in Liverpool’s rocambolesque home win against Fulham. Liverpool and Arsenal have decent enough fixtures in GW15. Because of that I’m happy to play all three of them again.
  • Jamaal Lascelles and Taylor will likely be on my bench once again. This depends on how my transfer plans pan out in midfield.
  • Mohamed Salah will once again vye with Haaland for the captaincy. Also, Son’s performance against Manchester City showed why he won’t be leaving my team anytime soon. The same is true of Bryan Mbeumo. He underwhelmed against Luton but is top three among midfielders for almost every key attacking metric and has favourable upcoming fixtures.
  • Moussa Diaby was predictably benched in GW14. He remains a priority transfer out, despite returning an assist off the bench against Bournemouth.
  • Cole Palmer still looks a decent option despite his precautionary benching against Brighton. That is the same for Anthony Gordon, who has the fourth highest NPxGI among midfielders over the last 6 GWs (3.01).
  • Bruno Fernandes is another player I’m looking to move on, particularly given Manchester United’s indifferent form. Not owning Bukayo Saka finally came back to bite me in GW14 and, with a game against Luton in midweek. The England international looks the ideal replacement for Fernandes. However, with only one free transfer going into GW15, I will probably only remove Diaby as I’m not sure transferring out Fernandes for Saka is worth a hit.
  • Upfront, transferring out Watkins to pair Nuñez with Haaland hasn’t worked out well so far. However, I’m hopeful the move pays off over the next couple of fixtures, with Nuñez set to face Sheffield United and Crystal Palace while Watkins plays Manchester City and Arsenal.
