The Gameweek 16 match postponement between Brighton and Spurs as a result of the Covid outbreak at Tottenham was a stark reminder to FPL managers of the need for a bench and to be able to react to changing news.

The news just ahead of midnight on Monday that the Gameweek 17 fixture between Brentford and Manchester United has been postponed, as a result of the Covid outbreak at Manchester United, puts FPL managers in greater turmoil.

Many managers sold the likes of Son Heung-Min, Harry Kane and Robert Sanchez when their Gameweek 16 fixture was cancelled, most bringing in the likes of David De Gea, Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford who will now not be playing in Gameweek 17.

Might be obvious, but as much as I want to double up on some teams (i.e. city mid), de-risking and spreading your players across numerous teams may be a smart option with all the uncertainty right now.
