Best players for Gameweek 22

The new round of Premier League is ahead. With that in mind and with the help of Fantasy Football Scout, we have dug into the data and plucked out some of best player versus team stats to reveal the best players for Gameweek 22.

Taking a look back at the head-to-head data to find some of the best players for Gameweek 22 could be really helpful to managers. Picking out assets who have great records against their upcoming opponent can help with transfers, captaincy and even chip strategy.

Note: You can find all of the best players in each position for the round ahead based on current data in our FPL Top Picks for Gameweek 22 article.

Pervis Estupinan v Luton

Brighton have a great opportunity ahead of them as they face-off with Luton. Luton have shown improvements recently but still rank as one of the worst sides in the league when it comes to offensive and defensive statistics overall this season.

The return of Pervis Estupinan (£5.1m) is a big one for Brighton and something the community are taking note of in regards to their own plans. As we can see below last season Estupinan racked up a huge 25 points against promoted sides. In the five matches he played against them he kept three clean sheets and created one assist.

Eberechi Eze v Sheffield United

Crystal Palace have been struggling for results recently. But, the Eagles have a game against Sheffield United next. The Blades rank as one of the worst defences in the league and have proven to be a team to target all season.

One player who could benefit from the above is Eberechi Eze (£6m). Last season Eze was amongst the most effective when facing newly promoted sides. In fact, he was the only player from a non ‘big six’ side to make the list below. In the six matches Eze faced promoted sides last campaign he collected 34 points with the help of three goals and one assist.

Ollie Watkins v Newcastle

Aston Villa have a meeting with Newcastle this week. Both sides have been in great form for most of the season. However, the Magpies have been conceding some of the worst underlying defensive data in the league recently.

Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) has a great chance of returning this week based on his form. He had very a successful 22/23 campaign against Newcastle. As we can see in the two matches he played against them he hit 17 points, mostly due to two goals and one assist.

Erling Haaland/Julian Alvarez v Burnley

Manchester City will be hoping to extend their strong run of form against Burnley this week. Newly promoted side Burnley have been extremely poor defensively this season and the holders could take advantage of that.

Judging from the 22/23 table below against promoted sides both Erling Haaland (£13.9m) and Julian Alvarez (£7m) could have huge potential. Haaland managed a huge 47 points against them last season due to a huge six goals and two assists. If fit then Haaland is the priority. However, if we get news that Haaland will not be fit then Alvarez’ two goals, two assists and 46 points last season is enough to back him.
