AFCON Fantasy Best Budget Gems

In this article we take a look through the AFCON Fantasy best budget gems. With the help of research, underlying stats and REALFEVR we reel off some of the best cheap players in the game to start the competition with in your teams.

Knowing the AFCON Fantasy budget gems can set you aside from the rest in terms of competition. AFCON Fantasy has provided us with plenty of tough decisions to make in regards to the premium players and the following budget picks could help enable more money to be used elsewhere.

Dango Ouattara – €6m

Burkina Faso rank as the 10th best team in Africa and 57th in the world according to FIFA rankings. They have matches against the likes of Angola, Algeria and Mauritania ahead. Now although Algeria will be challenging both of the last two meetings ended as a draw.

Burkina Faso have a fantastic group and whilst many managers will try to squeeze in Bertrand Traore (€8.5m) fellow midfielder Dango Ouattara could be a brilliant route into the attack. The Bournemouth attacker was hugely impressive in the qualifiers where he scored four goals and registered one assist in just five matches. €6m may not appear as cheap as you would like but considering his form, team, and fixtures ahead, he could be a difficult player to exclude if fit.

Emilio Nsue – €4.5m

You may want to concentrate for this one because our next pick is the ultimate budget gem.

Equatorial Guinea may seem like pushovers but they regularly make it into the latter stages of the competition. They have a tough group with the likes of Ivory Coast and Nigeria but they also have a meeting with a poor Guinea-Bissau. It could also be worth highlighting that Equatorial Guinea have managed to keep six clean sheets in their last 10 matches in all competitions.

Investing in the Equatorial Guinea defence may not sound as promising, or it may, either way that doesn’t matter because Emilio Nsue offers far more than clean sheet potential. In fact although Emilio Nsue is a defender in the game but he’s been playing both in a wing role and a strikers role for his country. If that wasn’t exciting enough Nsue also bagged two goals in his recent AFCON qualifiers.

Antoine Semenyo – €5m

Ghana will be hoping to return the faith in their fans after a disappointing run of form over the last several years. The ‘Black Stars’ finished top of their group in the qualifiers and have potential in their finals group against Mozambique, Cape Verde and Egypt, although the latter will be challenging.

Buying into the Ghana frontline could be rewarding especially when Antoine Semenyo comes in at just €5m. Semenyo, is another Bournemouth player who has impressed this season – scoring three goals and creating one assist in the Premier League. He also collected a goal and an assist in the AFCON qualifiers.

Rayan Aït Nouri – €4.5m

Algeria, as always, go into the new AFCON tournament as one of the favourites. ‘Les Fennecs’ rampaged through their AFCON qualifying Group Stage with five wins from six, 16 points, and just two goals conceded. Buying into the defence of a favourite will always be appealing but buying defensive assets from top teams with cheap price-tags is a must.

Rayan Aït Nouri has become a key player at Wolves. The full-back has played his football in the biggest league in the world for four years now so there is quality there. Rayan Aït Nouri tends to sustain very good underlying attacking data in the Premier League so with matches Angola, Burkina Faso and Mauritania ahead, he could have great potential in AFCON Fantasy and at just €4.5m.

Pape Matar Sarr – €5m

There a lots of great budget options in AFCON Fantasy this season so it’s all about finding the right ones. And, a budget gem playing for Senegal could be considered exactly that. The former AFCON champions come into the new campaign as one of the firm favorites which of course makes then even more investable.

As you may already know central midfielders are more appealing in this game due to additional points awarded for interceptions, blocks and more. With this in mind Pape Matar Sarr could be a good option. Sarr has also shown he has attacking threat in the Premier League – scoring two goals and two assists already this season. It could be worth monitoring news regarding his recent injury prior to selection

More great budget picks

Nigeria are another side with great budget picks in defence. Left-back Bruno Onyemaechi (€4.5m) and right-back Ola Aina (£4.5m) could have potential against the likes of Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau.

Egypt are another favourite coming into the competition so investing in their backline makes sense. A great way into their defence is Mohamed Abdel Monem (£4.5m).

For those looking for a budget goalkeeper then take your pick. Vozinha (£4m) of Cape Verde could be a consideration. Others include Ernan Siluane (€4m) of Mozambique and Modou Jobe (€4m) of Gambia.

If looking for a cheap striker then Peter Shalulile (€5m) comes in with a fantastic price-tag. The Namibian forward takes penalties and scored four goals in four AFCON qualifying matches.
