Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 11?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 11.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over their last four matches:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over their last four league appearances:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least nine shots
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.00
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.20

Due a goal in Gameweek 11

Since last week’s data, the ever-leading Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) has departed from this list but not for the good reasons that Bukayo Saka (£7.8) has. Whilst the Arsenal man’s weekend brace makes it three goals from four games, Salah is so off-form that his xG has dropped below 1.00.

With over two million managers selling Salah since Gameweek 6, the number will surely increase before Liverpool face Manchester City. Kevin De Bruyne‘s (£12.4m) low xG also sees him leave the list, although at least he leads the way for chances created (13) over this period.

Ranked by xG

Here, the first five names have a combined ownership of just 10.9 per cent. Darwin Nunez (£8.8m) could benefit from the injury that rules out Luis Diaz (£8.0m) until post-World Cup. Only 265 league minutes have been played by the Uruguayan so far but he’s getting in plenty of shots.

Neal Maupay‘s (£6.1m) problem is that he’s likely a placeholder until Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.9m) is ready to start. He scored against West Ham in Gameweek 8 but consecutive trips to Spurs and Newcastle will be unattractive to FPL managers.

At St James’ Park, he’ll face another surprise entry – Joe Willock (£4.9m). Without a goal so far, he assisted twice in Gameweek 9 and is another player rejuvenated under Eddie Howe. Furthermore, he has started every game so far

Elsewhere, Ollie Watkins (£7.2m) and Martin Odegaard (£6.4m) squeeze onto the list with nine shots apiece. The Aston Villa forward has blanked in his last six outings, whilst the latter won’t play in Gameweek 12.

Should Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.8m) be ruled out of Fulham’s weekend game, FPL managers will probably look to replace him. As well as the likes of Gianluca Scamacca (£6.7m), Dominic Solanke (£5.7m) and Odsonne Edouard (£5.3m), perhaps Brighton’s Danny Welbeck (£6.5m) is the strongest alternative in the price bracket.

He hasn’t actually scored yet, despite playing the majority of minutes. However, he ended 2021/22 with three goals and three assists in the final five games. Up next are the defences of Brentford and Nottingham Forest, who have conceded ten and 11 goals over these four matches.
