Transfers and Gossip up to August 4th

As the leagues prepare to commence around Europe and the rest of the world, many will be looking to buy, loan or sell players. We catchup with the transfers and gossip up to August 4th with the help of top tier source Fabrizio Romano and other reliable sources.

Overviewing the transfers and gossip up to August 4th can be a huge help for fantasy managers around the world. Whether it affects Fantasy Premier League, UCL Fantasy or another Fantasy game, we look at what the deal could mean for the player or team from a fantasy point of view.

Sanchez to Chelsea

David Ornstein has confirmed that Chelsea have agreed a deal with Brighton for Robert Sanchez. The fee is worth in the region of £25m and Sanchez is expected to undergo his medical imminently. He also adds that Chelsea have been targeting him as competition for Kepa after Mendy’ departure.

Robert Sanchez is a 25-year-old Spaniard who has impressed during his spell at Brighton. He amassed over 10 clean sheets in two of his last three seasons which shows he has Premier League quality and potentially enough to sure up the Chelsea backline.

Robert Sanchez comes in at £4.5m in FPL which is £0.5m cheaper than Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.5m). There is likely to be healthy competition between both but ultimately, if Sanchez can claim the first team position then managers could have a £4.5m goalkeeper from the Blues as an option.

Livramento agrees to Newcastle

David Ornstein also covered the situation around Tino Livramento. He states the Newcastle have reached an agreement with Southampton to sign the fullback. The deal is worth in the region of £40m. The reason behind his signing is to compete with Kieran Trippier in the right-back position.

Livramento is a 20-year-old full-back who can play in both the left-back and right-back position. The addition is a clever one for Newcastle with Trippier in his 30’s but it also adds much needed depth ahead of the Champions League campaign.

There is no telling how much the deal will affect us in FPL or UCL Fantasy. However, the chances of Kieran Trippier being rotated have risen.

Castrovilli to Bournemouth

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Gaetano Castrovilli will travel to England in the next hours to complete his move to Bournemouth. The deal is worth €12m. The essential documents are signed between the clubs.

Gaetano Castrovilli is a central midfielder who played his football in Serie A for Fiorentina last season. The Italian bagged two goals in the Europa Conference League last season but failed to become a regular starter for them. Castrovilli has suffered recent injuries so it will be interesting to see how he settles and affects Bournemouth’ goal to stay in the league for another campaign.

Nottingham Forest push for Ibanez

Fabrizio was also following the bid Nottingham Forest sent to AS Roma for Roger Ibanez – the proposal being worth around €25m fee. He also stated negotiations are underway to reach an agreement which suggests that Roma could be looking to sell.

Roger Ibanez is a 24-year old defender who although can play in a left-back role he predominantly plays in a left centre-back role. Ibanez has spent the last five seasons playing for Roma in Serie A and his qualities include ball interceptions, aerial duels and positioning which could ultimately improve the Nottingham Forest defence.

David Raya

The ‘Gooners’ are also focusing on the signing of a new goalkeeper. Arsenal have submitted an opening bid for Brentford’ David Raya with a bid worth £20m plus £3m in add-ons. Raya told Brentford that he wants a move away.

David Raya managed to keep 12 clean sheets in 38 matches last season which helped him to be the highest scoring goalkeeper in FPL last season. Raya could threaten the position of number one goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale long-term but his addition will only strengthen the depth of the squad and defence.
