Top picks for GAFFR Gameweek 14

The new Championship campaign continues which means the fantasy game does too! Because of this we provide the top picks for GAFFR Gameweek 14 with the help of our expert GAFFR manager @TomP_FF.

Looking through the top picks for GAFFR Gameweek 14 can be extremely useful for other managers within the Championship Fantasy community. Knowing who the best players to pick are will also help managers make decisions around transfers, captaincy and even chips.

Top picks – Defenders – Leif Davis

Not many believed Ipswich could maintain the form they have been as they sit in second place and a huge nine points ahead of third place Leeds. They have a huge matchup next against fellow promoted side Plymouth.

Plymouth are scoring plenty of goals but they’re also conceding a lot – 19 so far. This could play into the hands of the highest scoring defender in the game so far, Leif Davis (£5.1m). Davis continues his brilliant creativity numbers – registering three assists in the last three matches.

Joe Rankin-Costello

It hasn’t been the best of starts for Blackburn but they’re still sit in 11th place whilst their opponents sit 19th. The Swans have been on a little bit of a run but that ended two matches ago – they have now lost the last two matches on the bounce.

Whether Swansea have some scoring form or not Joe Rankin-Costello (£5.5m) seems to have found his shooting boots. In his last three matches Rankin-Costello has bagged a return in each (two goals and one assist). The Englishman has multiple routes to points in this one and in the form he’s in we could see another big retrun.

Differential defender pick – Kyle Walker-Peters

We have seen clear signs of improvement from the Saints over the last period. After losing four matches in a row Southampton are on a five-match unbeaten run currently. They come up against Birmingham next whom although have started the season better than expected they’re looking blunt in front of goal as of late – failing to score a goal in three of their last five matches.

Birmingham’ recent goal drought may not be enough to invest in a Southampton defender just yet but Kyle Walker-Peters (£7m) offers more than clean sheet potential. In fact, in the last five matches Walker-Peters has registered two assists and one goal.

Midfielders – Crysencio Summerville

Leeds have the perfect fixture to get back to their best this week. They face Huddersfield this week who sit 21st in the league. Huddersfield have struggled in front of goal this season but their defence seems to be the problem here. So far they’ve conceded a huge 23 goals this campaign which makes them a team to target.

After a small rest in midweek Crysencio Summerville (£8.6m) looks set to return to the starting line-up. So far this season Summerville has collected four goals and two assists in just 10 matches which reflects a strong output but the fact he banked four of those returns in the last four games suggests he’s in a good period of form.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

There’s no stopping the Foxes. Leicester sit atop of the league table after winning a massive 12 from their first 13 matches. The most significant point to highlight here is their goalscoring ability – racking up a whopping 27 already.

The fact Leicester face QPR next up makes their attacking assets even more appealing, not just for selection but for the captaincy armbands as well. QPR are in very poor form – losing all of their last five matches. One player who could take advantage of that is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (£7.9m) who sits as the highest scoring player in the game. The talismanic midfielder has already notched up 10 attacking returns in 13 games so far with five of them coming in his last five.

Differential midfielder pick

Blackburn seem to have found a bit of from recently. They have won three matches on the bounce and go into their next one searching for a fourth. In the same three matches Rovers also found the net seven times which also shows an uptake in output.

Whilst many opt for the likes of Sammie Szmodics some could consider Tyrhys Dolan (£6.5m). Dolan leads the frontline so is the focal point to the attack. He also seems to be in a small patch of good form – producing two assists and one goal in his last three matches.

Forwards – Conor Chaplin

Ipswich aren’t just showing a bit of beginners luck but their attack ranks as one of the best in the league. So far they have racked up a huge 26 goals which makes them one of the most investable attacks in the league, especially considering their assets price-tags.

Ipswich face off against Plymouth next who have conceded 19 goals already. One player who could take advantage of the poor Plymouth backline is Conor Chaplin (£6.6m). He currently sits as the fourth highest scoring striker in the game with 72 points. Most of his returns come from his five goals and two assists. He’s also in form as well – scoring in two of his last three matches.

Georginio Rutter

The Huddersfield match ahead is too hard to ignore in terms of investment. Not only have they been poor this season but they have also kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 league matches. A Leeds attacker could be a must this week and Georginio Rutter (£9.1m) could be the one.

Rutter has made his way into the top five scoring forwards in the game due to his performances so far. In terms of attacking output he’s collected two goals and four assists from 12 matches – two of those assists coming in his last four games.

Differential forward pick

Hull are having a fairly good start to the new season. The Tigers reside in eight place and they’ve also managed to score 19 goals thus far. They come up against Preston next, a side really struggling to regain their form.

Preston have failed to win any of their last six league matches but they have also conceded two or more goals in four of the same six games which could indicate them as a team to target. The best way to scrutinise the Preston defence could be Liam Delap (£6.1m). The budget striker is in great form – scoring in both of his last two matches. Its also worth noting he comes off the back of three attacking returns in two England U21 matches.
