@FPLReaction’ top three picks for FPL Gameweek 10

With the new round edging closer we bring in Fantasy Football Community and Fantasy Football Scout contributor @FPLReaction’ (Louis) to reel off his top three picks for FPL Gameweek 10.

The early rounds are good opportunities to get off to a great start. Here I will give you my top three picks for FPL Gameweek 10 to try and help with that. There are some very obvious options with huge potential for the new round and whilst I will list them, I will also provide you with three different picks who I think could also do well.

The obvious options

  • Bukayo Saka (£8.5m)
  • Ollie Watkins (£8.3m)
  • Matty Cash (£5.1m)
  • Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m)
  • Mohamed Salah (£12.8m)
  • Erling Haaland (£14m)
  • Kieran Trippier (£7m)
  • Son Heung-min (£9.5m)
  • James Maddison (£8.1m)

Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal look like they’re going to have another excellent season again this time around. They look strong offensively and there is somewhat of an inevitability about them. I imagine it could be a big week for the Gooners as they face off against the worst side in the league.

Sheffield United aren’t just really poor but they’ve managed just a single point from their first nine games. From the outside you can imagine how poor they are defensively but when you actually look into their data it’s very enticing. The Blades rank the worst for a lot of the major defensive statistics which makes targeting them a priority.

Many will of course go for the option I mentioned above, Bukayo Saka. However, there is one man who I think could match or even better him this week and that is Gabriel Martinelli (£7.7m). We can’t forget how effective he can be and it was only last season he managed 15 goals and five assists. With two goals in his last three starts after returning from injury I think Martinelli could so some serious damage to the Sheffield United defence.

Dominic Solanke

Bournemouth are struggling and there is no doubt about that. In fact, the Cherries have lost all three of their last three matches on the bounce. So, why would I be selecting Bournemouth player? Well, it mainly comes down to the player and the opposition he’s facing.

Bournemouth may be struggling but Burnley are too and they both actually sit together amongst the bottom three teams in the league. The newly promoted side have played just nine games and they’ve already conceded three or more goals in over half of their games.

Burnley are a team to target and one player who stands out up front is Dominic Solanke (£6.4m). Solanke is quietly going under the radar in terms of points and has collected five returns already. What is interesting is that he also ranks as the second highest amongst forwards for touches in the oppositions penalty area. His form, stats, penalty duty and opposition makes me believe this is the week he hits double digits.

Douglas Luiz

Now a lot of people will think this next pick is knee-jerking but some would call it realisation. Firstly Aston Villa are in brilliant form, form I never thought possible. In fact, they could win their 12th home game in a row next against Luton. It also helps that they rank second best for goals scored so far with 23.

Luton lay ahead and whilst they look a lot better than they did at the start of the campaign they’re also still conceding a lot of goals and poor underlying defensive data. I have no doubt in my mind that the Hatters are still one of the best teams to target with attacking players and part of that contributes to my next pick.

Douglas Luiz (£5.5m) isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea when it comes to FPL. That’s mainly due to his central midfield position. However, he does take set pieces and that includes penalties so does have plenty of routes to points. Luiz has also returned in four of his matches so far and two of them were double-digit hauls.
