Serie A Fantasy Round 17 Top Picks

We look to our expert @FPL_Crisk as he provides us with the Serie A Fantasy Round 17 top picks. Round 16 saw wins for Napoli, Inter, Milan, Bologna and Fiorentina. We also saw Atalanta dismantle Salernitana 4-1.

Before we take a look at who makes the cut this week, we need to highlight how important this article could be for managers. Knowing who the Serie A Fantasy Round 17 top picks are could be hugely beneficial when it comes to mini-league position and overall rank. That is because it can help with things like transfers and captaincy.

Top Picks – Goalkeepers – Yann Sommer (€5.2m – 24.1%)

Many people probably haven’t noticed this yet, but the Swiss goalie is actually the second player with the most overall points, just behind the must-own Lautaro Martinez, while costing barely half as much.

Ivan Provedel (€6.2m – 16.3%)

Lazio haven’t been the defensive powerhouse they were last year to say the least. Actually, their defensive performance against Inter was laughable at best. Nevertheless, they now face Monza, which in the last month rank bottom of the table for both xG and goals scored.

Defender – Alessandro Buongiorno (€5.6m – 12.5%)

This one is a massively underrated pick. Despite Schuurs being out with an ACL injury, Torino seem not to have suffered his absence that much, as both Buongiorno and Milinkovic-Savic are between the best picks in their respective categories. He is a great option for the time being.

Federico Gatti (€5.2m – 7.9%)

To be honest, any Juventus defender could be placed here. Frosinone are having trouble offensively in recent times, and Gatti (former Frosinone player) has stepped up his game this season, making him as viable as Bremer and Danilo, considering his lower price tag.

Midfielders – Rafael Leao (€11.2m – 64.1%)

Leao has returned from injury and he’s just as dangerous as ever, leading Milan for key passes (getting also one assist) in the Monza game. He should be back to full fitness, and with his substitute Okafor now injured again, I’m expecting a return to form for the Portuguese, whose numbers haven’t matched the high expectations just yet.

Albert Gudmundsson (€5.8m – 7.8%)

Sassuolo’ backline is the second worst in the league, conceding almost two goals each game (30 GC in 16 games). Gudmundsson returned to the scoresheet against Juventus, so it would be pretty fair to consider him as a prime target for this Round.

Forwards – Lautaro Martinez (€11.4m – 61.2%)

I don’t think there’s further need for me to explain why Lautaro Martinez fits into the “best pick” category. His numbers this year are through the roof, and without even being the main penalty taker for the team. 2023 was indeed the year of Lautaro.

Olivier Giroud (€8.8m – 25.2%)

Salernitana are bottom of the table, and are the worst team in terms of goal conceded. The French goal scorer is on penalty duty and has performed really well recently, with great assists in his last two games. This makes me think he won’t be rotated for this easy fixture.
