Serie A Fantasy expert team reveal for Round 5

Italian football is back for another round which means the fantasy football game is too! Get ready as we take a look at a Serie A Fantasy expert team reveal for Round 5 provided by regular @FplRossoneriHe also shares his general thoughts around captaincy.

Checking out a Serie A Fantasy expert team reveal for Round 5 can be extremely beneficial for other fantasy managers. Twitter is full of some of the most experienced fantasy managers around so catching up with their plans could help bring clarity within our own teams.

Introduction

Welcome to my GW5 Team reveal for Serie A Fantasy, Here I pen down my thoughts about the team, my transfers if any, and my captain for each upcoming GW.

But before that, let’s look back at GW4 which unexpectedly turned out to be an amazing GW, I scored 90 points in a GW that averaged 61 points overall. Transferring in Dusan Vlahovic really paid off with 13 points, Kristensen, Savic, and Martinez also chipped in with double-digit hauls.

In the end, I finished with a great GW rank of 418th in the world, which also put me up to 409th OR and 2nd in Germany. The only disappointment this week was Victor Osimhen who was my captain as well.

For GW5 I have two free transfers and I am looking to hold ground and some good fixtures to target where Inter takes on struggling Empoli, Verona visits Milan at San Siro and Napoli takes on Bologna.

Round 5 team reveal (subject to change)

Goalkeepers

  • Vanja Milenkovic-Savic (€5m) – Vanja stays in goal after another great showing getting 11 points in GW4. Torino tends to usually do well in defence and that was part of my thinking behind getting Vanja into my team in the first place. In GW5 Torino plays Roma at home and I do expect a close game with Savic making a lot of saves.
  • My other keeper Caprile is injured so he stays on the bench again until I WC which will be soon.

Defenders

  • Danilo (€6.4m) – The legend of Serie A Fantasy that is Danilo marches on with a six-pointer vs. Lazio where Juventus conceded the solitary goal. Danilo is a powerhouse in defence and he starts again when Juventus play Sassuolo in GW5.
  • Matteo Darmian (€4.8m) – Darmian and Inter look as solid as ever and dispatched off Milan in the Derby 5-1 at the San Siro without much hassle, Darmian again finished the GW with five points. Ben Pavard played in the midweek UCL game so I assume he starts again on the weekend. Inter play a hapless Empoli side who looked completely out of sorts last GW which saw them losing 7-0 to Roma, they have not scored a single goal in their first four Serie A games and it looks like that isn’t going to change.
  • Nicolo Casale (€4.6m) – Casale was a great revelation last year in Serie A and his pairing with Romagnoli was one of the best. He starts for me in GW5 against Monza who doesn’t have the best of records vs. Lazio which has seen them losing both their previous games against Lazio without scoring a goal. Lastly, Kristensen will remain on the bench for GW5.

Midfielders

  • Rafael Leao (€11.0m) – Leao’s goal vs. Inter was one of the few highlights from a Milan perspective as my team were battered again in the Derby. I am expecting a resurgent performance vs. Verona at home and Leao will start again in hopes of helping Milan score again and win after a stalemate vs. United in the Champions League.
  • Teun Koopmeiners (€7.0m) – Koopmeiners again got nine points in GW4 where he scored his first goal of the new season and looked great in advanced positions for Atalanta, He stays in the team as I expect good points from him when Atalanta plays Cagliari at home in GW5 and with Scamacca out injured for the next few weeks, Gasperini will be looking at the likes of Koopmeiners to contribute in the attacking front.
  • Gabriel Strefezza (€5.4m) – Strefezza has been a bit of a hit-and-miss so far this season, after his unexpected benching in the last 2 GWs, I am expecting him to start in GW5 and he will be on the chopping block if he doesn’t produce some points for me.
  • Antonio Candreva (€7m) – Candreva starts again for me vs. Frosinone at home in GW5, he could have easily hauled again in GW4 where he failed to put away some great chances, I have faith in the Italian, and hope he can come good in GW5.

Forwards

  • Victor Osimhen (€12m) – My captain for GW4 and I expected him to come good vs. Genoa but that wasn’t the case. He still looked in good form and one can only hope that he does well when Napoli takes on Bologna in GW5 against who he has scored in every game he has started.
  • Lautaro Martinez (€11m) – Martinez is in great form at the moment, scoring again midweek to save Inter blushes against Real Sociedad in MD1 of UCL and I can only see it continue against Empoli who are dead last in Serie A. Given his form at the moment and the opponents, my captain’s armband is currently on him for GW5.
  • Dusan Vlahovic (€9m) – My transfer in from GW3 scored two beautiful goals vs Lazio to firmly put his name in the argument of best ST’s in Serie A this season. Juventus look like a great team in form and Vlahovic is the man they will count on again to help them vs Sassuolo who are traditionally known to ship goals.

Captaincy

At the moment of writing this article, after a captaincy blank in GW4, I need to get back on track as getting the captain right is vital in Serie A Fantasy. It is currently on Lautaro Martinez for reasons I have mentioned above, there are some rumours flying around that he could be benched in GW5 , if I get some news before deadline I will pivot to either Vlahovic or Osimhen.

As per usual, I will try and let everyone know on Twitter before the deadline so make sure you are following me on there @FPLRossoneriNick

That’s it for my GW5 Team reveal, See you in GW6, and best of luck for GW5 in Serie A Fantasy, may all your arrows be green.
