FPL: Top 10 Most Popular Picks for Gameweek 19

The new round is approaching and many within the community have started making early changes to their teams. Because of this we check out the highest owned players in the game and pick out the top 10 most popular picks for Gameweek 19 with the help of the Fantasy Premier League website.

Player ownership has become a massive part of Fantasy Premier League so knowing the top 10 most popular picks for Gameweek 19 can help when it comes to making hard decisions regarding the use of transfers, captaincy and more.

The Top Five

  • Erling Haaland (62.2%) – The Manchester City striker is the highest owned player coming into Gameweek 19. Haaland has however lost a lot ownership over recent weeks due to his injury and Blank Gameweek. The Norwegian faces an in-form Everton side next up away from home.
  • Bukayo Saka (58.4%) – The Arsenal midfielder has been closing in on the top spot recently. Arsenal have a game at home this week, somewhere they are considerably stronger. A leaky West Ham could be the perfect opportunity for Saka to continue his fantastic season in FPL.
  • Mohamed Salah (54.1%) – Liverpool have an easy fixture this week against newly promoted side Burnley. The Reds will be firm favourites which could also suggest that Salah is the standout captaincy option in Gameweek 19.
  • Ollie Watkins (51.5%) – Aston Villa have to edge Manchester United in their next game to continue their excellent campaign. Leading one of the best attacks in the league is Watkins who completes the quad of players to be owned by more than 50% of managers.
  • Kieran Trippier (43.5%) – The only defender to make the top five is this man. Newcastle play at home this week against a poor Nottingham Forest side who recently departed with their head coach. Trippier also leads the way this season in terms of assists proving he has multiple routes to points.

The Rest of the Top 10

  • Son Heung-Min (43.2%) – Not far off the top five highest owned players is Son. Tottenham come up against Brighton this week who are one of the few teams yet to keep a single clean sheet this campaign. Son has been re positioned from striker to left wing so it could be interesting to see how his output is moving forward.
  • William Saliba (35.5%) – The second and final defender to break into the top 10 is Saliba. Arsenal have maintained one of the best defences in the league this season in terms of actual clean sheets and underlying data. Saliba faces West Ham next up who are very efficient in front of goal.
  • Alphonse Areola (32.7%) – Areola is the only goalkeeper to make the top 10 highest owned players going into Gameweek 19. Gameweek 17 saw the Hammers keep their first clean sheet in 10 matches and Areola failed to start the game.
  • Julian Alvarez (26.8%) – Alvarez has become a very reliable asset in terms of gametime in the league. However, the last time the Manchester City striker scored a goal was eight rounds ago so it could be interesting to see how his ownership changes in the coming weeks.
  • Cole Palmer (23.8%) – The Chelsea man breaks into the top 10 for the first time this season. Palmer faces a Crystal Palace side who have failed to keep a clean sheet since Gameweek 11 so has huge potential this week.
