Notes

  • Thankfully, I had more luck with captaincy in GW22 than GW21. I captained Richarlison and six of my front seven returned to propel me up to an OR of ~215k.
  • As it stands, I’m only planning on making one free transfer in GW23. The returning Erling Haaland will be coming in for one of Julian Álvarez or Dominic Solanke. Álvarez is most likely to make way.
  • I will roll my other free transfer into GW24 to maximise flexibility in preparation for the double in GW25.
  • I will therefore line up with Martin Dúbravka in goal. He has an easier fixture on paper than recent number one Alphonse Areola.
  • Pervis Estupiñan, Gabriel and Charlie Taylo are in defence. I expect Arsenal to concede against Liverpool, which is why I’d prefer to bench one of William Saliba or Gabriel. I favour playing Gabriel due to his greater attacking threat from set pieces. However, I don’t mind playing Saliba if Taylor is once again ruled out through injury as rumoured. Jamaal Lascelles remains marooned on my bench.
  • My midfielders will be Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Richarlison and Bukayo Saka. The Spurs’ number nine is currently taking the vice captaincy. I will hold onto Mohamed Salah for another week in case we get news that he may be ready in time for Liverpool’s potential double in GW25. However, time is running out to announce that double Gameweek. If it isn’t announced soon then I think Salah becomes an easier sell for owners, particularly with doubts over his fitness and a guaranteed blank in GW26.
  • Upfront, Haaland will probably take the captaincy, with Ollie Watkins and the survivor of Álvarez and Solanke completing the forward line.
