Forward planning for FPL Gameweek 6 and 7

We take a look at forward planning for FPL Gameweek 6 and 7. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise its fixture ticker and underlying stats to pick out the best teams and players to target for the Gameweeks ahead.

Forward planning for FPL Gameweek 6 and 7 can be absolutely vital to the success of any given managers season. The early stage of the campaign is one of the most important periods in FPL so being able to target the right teams and players could be key.

Gameweek 6 & 7 fixtures

Who has the best fixtures?

We can see that Luton and Burnley sit first and second on the ticker. This is mainly due to the fact they both have a double Gameweek in 7.

Newcastle, Brentford and Manchester City also sit amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Tottenham, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Wolves and Crystal Palace sit amongst the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures.

Best players for Gameweek 6 & 7

  • Luton – The Hatters have been poor so far but the fixtures against Wolves, then Everton and Burnley in their Gameweeks ahead mean they could hold appeal. In attack the most obvious option is striker Carlton Morris (£5.5m). He takes his sides penalties and leads the frontline. In defence, centre-back Amari’i Bell (£4m) has started the last three matches in all competitions for his side.
  • Newcastle – They face two newly promoted sides in the next two matches making their assets extremely attractive from an investment point of view. They have plenty of options. For those not happy with their current goalkeeper then Nick Pope (£5.5m) could be a nice pick. They also have some fantastic defender picks in Sven Botman (£4.5m), Fabian Schar (£5m) and set piece taker and full-back Kieran Trippier (£6.5m).
  • Manchester City – The league leaders are maintaining some of the best defensive and offensive data in the division so far. They also face matches against Nottingham Forest and Wolves ahead. The safest defensive picks in terms of minutes include goalkeeper Ederson (£5.6m) and centre-back Ruben Dias (£5.5m). They also have great attacking options including the best captaincy pick moving ahead, Erling Haaland (£14.1m). Midfielder Phil Foden (7.6m) and striker Julian Alvarez (£6.7m) are both also in good form.

Who else should we be targeting?

  • Brentford – The Bees are in great scoring form and face Everton and Nottingham Forest next up. One of their best defenders in terms of attacking threat is full-back Rico Henry (£4.6m). Their standout player is Bryan Mbeumo (£6.8m) who has collected returns in three of his first four matches and takes penalties. Another great pick is striker Yoane Wissa (£6.1m).
  • Brighton – They face Bournemouth and Aston Villa in the weeks ahead. Brighton have been sustaining some of the best attacking data in the league this season. One way to invest in both the defence and attack is full-back Pervis Estupinan (£5.3m). He has picked up three attacking returns so far this season. They also have some brilliant attackers to pick from including midfielders Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m) and Solly March (£6.6m) and striker Evan Ferguson (£6m).

Other assets with potential

  • Manchester United – Midfielders Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m) and Marcus Rashford (£8.9m) could have big potential. They face Burnley and Crystal Palace in the run ahead and both midfielders also have three returns between them in the last two matches.
  • Chelsea – Defender Ben Chilwell (£5.8m) is still playing in a left-wing position and striker Nicolas Jackson (£7.1m) is still maintaining some of the best big chances total in the division. They both face Aston Villa and Fulham in the next two Gameweeks.

Should we play a chip in Gameweek 6 or 7?

The most experienced managers tend to use their chips in blank or medium to large double Gameweeks. The likes of Bench Boost, Triple Captain and the Free Hit could be used later in the campaign for that reason.

For those that need to make a lot of changes to their team for the schedule ahead it could be viable to use the wildcard. However, some of the top managers will likely use their Wildcard around Gameweek 9 or 10 when the fixtures swing for teams like Liverpool, Aston Villa, Brighton, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham.
