Early Look at a Gameweek 30 Wildcard Team

In this article we take an early look at a Gameweek 30 Wildcard Team. Using the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area we utilise the underlying data and fixture ticker to help us pick out the best teams and players to invest in on a Gameweek 30 Wildcard.

Taking an early look at a Gameweek 30 Wildcard team could be absolutely crucial for managers activating the chip. Taking into account fixture swings, injuries, premium players and more to build a solid Wildcard should be a priority for managers.

Why is now a good time to Wildcard?

Before we go into specific teams and players that contribute to the Wildcard draft, below are some reasons it could be a great time to Wildcard:

  • Blank Gameweek 29: For managers who had to dead-end their teams into the large previous Blank round, it could be absolutely necessary to re-build their teams.
  • Fixture Swings: Fixture Swings are teams who have had a tough set of fixtures but are coming into an easy run of fixtures ahead. There are plenty of fixture swings for teams in Gameweek 30 which we’ll cover shortly.
  • Double Gameweeks: There is very likely going to be Double Gameweeks in 34, 35 and 37, and Wildcarding now can help prepare for them.
  • International break: International break can be a very good time to Wildcard. We could see multiple injuries during the International break and Wildcarding could help navigate that.
  • Premium Players: Not only does Erling Haaland have a fixture this week but the return of Mohamed Salah from injury could result in essential team surgery to fit them both in, along with other options.

So, what should Wildcarding managers consider when it comes to building their teams? Lets take a look.

Potential Double Gameweeks

Below we have listed teams with a good chance of Doubling in each specific Gameweek.

GW34:

  • Arsenal
  • Bournemouth
  • Crystal Palace
  • Everton
  • Liverpool
  • Sheffield United
  • Wolves

GW35:

  • Chelsea
  • Brighton

GW37:

  • Brighton
  • Chelsea
  • Manchester City
  • Manchester United
  • Newcastle
  • Tottenham

FPL managers should take the above into account when it comes to building their Wildcard teams. However, it is also very likely that those Wildcarding this week still have their Free Hit available. Using the Free Hit in Gameweek 34 remains one of the most popular Free Hit strategies.

Fixture Swings

As well as Double Gameweeks, FPL managers should also consider the upcoming fixture swings.

As we can see below Chelsea face Burnley, Manchester United, Sheffield United and Everton in the next four rounds. Combine that with the fact they could double in both Gameweek 35 and 37, and the Blues could be one of the most important teams to invest in for the run ahead.

Another side with a significant fixture swing is Liverpool. Brighton, Sheffield United, Manchester United and Crystal Palace lay ahead for the Reds. They are also likely to double against Fulham and Everton in Gameweek 34. With that in mind, Liverpool join Chelsea amongst some of the top priority teams for the Wildcard.

As well as Doubling in Gameweek 37, Newcastle also have great fixtures ahead. Prior to their double in 37 they also face Burnley and Sheffield United, two of the three promoted sides.

Fixtures swings can also be negative too. Both Luton and Aston Villa were popular sides to invest in prior to Gameweek 30. However, both teams come up against two of the top three sides in the league during the run ahead.

Whilst having a look at an early look at a Gameweek 30 Wildcard team we should also factor in premium players.

Premium Players

Fitting in expensive players can be a real struggle. Not only do managers need the budget but a lot of the time it can take multiple moves to bring them back in and reshape your squads.

The landscaping is quickly changing around premium players. Erling Haaland did not have a fixture in Gameweek 29 which meant some within the community sold him. With Manchester City vying for the title and taking into account their recent form, including Haaland could be a must.

Mohamed Salah is also a huge factor. Liverpool’ fixtures and elite attacking data make them a must when it comes to offensive investment and the Egyptian is their standout option.

Meanwhile, Son Heung-Min, Ollie Watkins, Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka all deserve to make our teams in the period ahead.
