Gameweek 18 Team Reveal (subject to change)

Notes

  • GW17 was another reasonable week, I scored 65 points, which was enough for a green arrow up to an OR of 210k. However, at the time of writing, GW17 is still open and, with Dominic Solanke in my team, my final position remains subject to change.
  • Looking ahead to GW18, Martin Dúbravka will once ahead be my goalkeeper. Alphonse Areola is benched in part due to concerns regarding his fitness and position in the pecking order. However, it is also due to West Ham’s potentially tricky home tie against Manchester United.
  • My defence is probably the weak point of my team for GW18. Three of my defenders are set to face off in the Liverpool-Arsenal fixture.
  • As it stands, my starting three defenders will be Jamaal Lascelles, Kostas Tsimikas and one of Gabriel and William Saliba. One of my Arsenal defenders are very likely to occupy the first bench slot.
  • With Sven Botman returning to the Newcastle team in GW17, Lascelles’ place in their and my starting XI may also be at risk. This depends on the extent of Fabian Schär’s injury and the team Eddie Howe selects for the Carabao Cup fixture against Chelsea.
  • Ezri Konsa is top of my list of possible replacements should I need to make a transfer in defence.
  • In midfield, Mohamed Salah, Bukayo Saka, Son-Heung Min and Cole Palmer will all start in GW18. Son is very likely to be my vice captain.
  • Moussa Diaby was a surprise inclusion in the Aston Villa XI for their game against Brentford. But he disappointed once again from a Fantasy perspective. If Diaby looks likely to start in GW18 then I will keep him for Villa’s plum home fixture against Sheffield United. In general though, Diaby remains someone I’m looking to move on. If that is the case Richarlison is now the likeliest replacement.
  • Upfront, Solanke was my replacement for Erling Haaland in GW17. He retains his place in the starting XI.
  • Solanke will lead the line alongside Ollie Watkins. I’ve already transferred Watkins back in for Darwin Nuñez, thereby reversing the ill-fated move I made in GW14. Watkins will also likely wear the captain’s armband for GW18.
