Best players for FPL Gameweek 7

The new round of Premier League is ahead. With that in mind and with the help of Fantasy Football Scout, we have dug into the data and plucked out some of best player v team stats to reveal the best players for FPL Gameweek 7.

Taking a look back at the head-to-head data to find some of the best players for FPL Gameweek 7 could be really helpful to managers. Picking out assets who have great records against their upcoming opponent can help with transfers, captaincy and even chip strategy.

Ollie Watkins v Brighton

Aston Villa face a tough challenge against the free-scoring Brighton next up. Although difficult, Brighton are yet to keep a single clean sheet so far this season. This could play into the hands of in-form striker Ollie Watkins (£7.9m).

So far Watkins has picked up a return in all but one of his league matches. We can also see below that in the four matches he faced Brighton between 2020-2021 he picked up a return in two. Watkins also bagged nine points against the same opposition last season due to his goal.

Callum Wilson v Burnley

Newcastle have started picking up some great results after a torrid start to the season in terms of schedule. Their standout performance came in the last game where they beat newly promoted side Sheffield United 8-0.

Striker Callum Wilson (£7.8m) and his side have another matchup against a promoted side in the round ahead, Burnley. As we can see in the seven matches he played between 2019-2021 against promoted sides Wilson managed five returns. He also picked up two goals and one assist against them last season.

Jarrod Bowen v Sheffield United

West Ham have not failed to score in a single match this season – they have also netted two or more goals in four of the same seven games. They come up against the Blades next whom as we can all remember conceded eight goals in the latest round.

One player who could take advantage of the poor Sheffield United defence is midfielder Jarrod Bowen (£7.1m). Between 2020-2021 in the 11 matches he played against newly promoted sides Bowen banked returns in seven – including four double-digit returns. He also notched up 30 points against promoted sides last season.

Mohamed Salah v Tottenham

It is a big clash between two of the most in-form teams in the league this week as Liverpool and Tottenham come head-to-head. One of several players who could return this week is midfielder Mohamed Salah (£12.5m).

As we can see between 2017-2021 in the 10 matches Salah faced Tottenham he returned in six of them. what is even more interesting is that last season no player in the league picked up more points against Tottenham than Salah with 22 points.
