Best captain for FPL Gameweek 7

We take a look at some of the top candidates and pick out the best captain for FPL Gameweek 7. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can access its underlying stats and fixture ticker to come to a conclusion.

The player you select as your captain will earn you double points in any given round. Captaincy is one of the biggest contributors to your overall score and rank. Because of this, finding out the best captain for FPL Gameweek 7 could be key.

Gameweek 7 fixtures

Below we can see the fixture ticker – it has ordered the matches in difficulty order. According to the ticker the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures.

The fixture ticker can be very useful when trying to pick out a captain but other factors should also be considered.

Erling Haaland

Manchester City have a great fixture this week. The league leaders have also won all of their first six league matches which reflects how good their current form is. In the same period they also racked up 16 goals – averaging over two goals per games.

Wolves lay ahead in Gameweek 7. Although putting up some great defensive stats over the years they seem to be in decline. Amongst all teams this season they rank in the worst five for total attempts conceded, shots in the box conceded and big chances conceded.

Leading the Manchester City frontline is Erling Haaland (£14.1m) who also takes his sides penalties. The Norwegian has continued his 22/23 campaign relentlessness – scoring eight goals and registering an assist in just six matches. In terms of stats he also ranks first for total attempts (31), first for shots in the box (31) and first for big chances total (15).

Carlton Morris

Luton rank at the top of the fixture ticker this week. This is largely because they have a double Gameweek. This also means that Luton assets have two attempts of picking up returns which naturally increases the appeal of their assets going into the new round.

The Hatters have been poor so far this season but their performance was much better against Wolves in the last round. There is a chance they picked up some confidence, confidence they can take into their games against two poor defensive sides, Everton and Burnley.

Everton and Burnley are teams to target and some could be looking to Carlton Morris (£5.5m) to capitalise. Not only does he take his sides penalties but he also leads his offensive line. He also managed a nine-point return and his first goal of the season in Gameweek 6.

Who is the best captain for Gameweek 7?

Whilst it may be incredibly tempting to captain Carlton Morris this week his team have failed to convince in any sense of the word. Not only are Manchester City maintaining some fantastic offensive stats but their main man is also edging every other attacker in the game for key data points. Even with two matches Morris is no match for Haaland especially when taking into account his form. With that in mind, Erling Haaland is the best captain for Gameweek 7.

The best differential captains for Gameweek 7

For those looking to avoid Erling Haaland for the captaincy this week there are some other great options that could help you gain rank and back against the masses.

  • Jarrod Bowen (£7.1m) – West Ham face the worst defence in the division up next in Sheffield United. The Blades conceded a huge eight goals to Newcastle in Gameweek 6 which highlights their defensive fragilities. Their standout attacker Bowen has picked up four returns in his first six matches including one double-digit haul.
  • Bukayo Saka (£8.7m) – Saka is currently flagged with an injury so monitoring news will be key here. The winger has bagged a return in all but one of his matches so far including two double-digit hauls. Not only does he take his sides penalties but he also faces a Bournemouth side who have been conceding some of the worst underlying defensive data in the league.
  • Julian Alvarez (£7m) – Another brilliant Manchester City captaincy option could be Julian Alvarez. The striker has become a mainstay in the starting line-up and has already notched up a return in four of his first six games including a double-digit haul.
