Introduction

Well, what a rollercoaster weekend. Red cards, hauls and an abandoned fixture! It goes without saying my thoughts remain with Tom Lockyer. In this article I will review the gameweek just gone and look ahead to the weekend in Sky Fantasy Football, enjoy!

Gameweek 17 Review

At the time of writing, the Premier League have announced Bournemouth v Luton will be replayed. Sky haven’t removed the points yet but I expect they will at the conclusion of the gameweek (Thursday evening).

Despite the looming threat of losing points, I’m currently on 86 points for the week, taking me up to 1.2K. After Bissouma’s red card on Friday night and confirmation of Sanchez’s injury – I made two transfers on Saturday, bringing in Solanke and Petrovic. Fortunately, I captained Petrovic over Solanke. Both are on nine points, however, I expect Solanke’s to be removed.

Elsewhere, the main success was my Liverpool defensive double-up coming in (VVD 12 and Tsimikas 7). Saliba, Watkins and Bowen all chipped in with returns. Unfortunate, Son and Salah captains could only manage shot tiers.

GW18 Transfers and Captains

Between now and next week’s article there are six (!) days of Sky Fantasy action. That means six captaincy decisions to make in between the mulled wines and mince pies!

Starting with the straightforward decisions. For tonight’s game Pascal Groß will take my armband. The German has been so consistent and has with many different routes to points. Ollie Watkins for Friday night against Sheffield United is a no brainier as Villa look to go top of the League. Christmas Eve, my only option is Djorde Petrovic at Wolves although I’m not expecting Chelsea to keep a clean sheet. If I had Cole Palmer I would captain him instead. Boxing Day, it will be Salah at Burnley. No explanation is needed there.

That leaves Saturday 23rd and Wednesday 27th. The former is between Son (EVE) and Salah (ARS), currently I’m favouring the latter due to Son’s shift to the LW. I’m not as convinced by his goal threat in that role. On the Wednesday, if Haaland starts (and we will see the team sheet) I’ll captain him. If not, it will be Petrovic (CRY).

Transfer-wise I’m once again looking to get through the week without making one. However, I said that last week and ended up making two! I’ve got 30 left and really want to carry all those through to Overhaul. The only move I’ve thought about is if we got definitive news on Haaland being out of Everton and Sheff Utd, in that case I’d go to Alvarez.
