It could be extremely difficult to get all of the players you want into your squads at times which is why finding the UCL Fantasy best budget players for Matchday 3 can be absolutely essential. Budget players are great but finding cheap picks with massive potential could be even more beneficial.
Real Sociedad
Real Sociedad could be one of the best places to go when seeking budget players this season. The Spanish side have surprised many with their performances so far, in their draw against Inter and their convincing win against Salzburg.
In terms of form its’s fairly strong. In their last six matches in all competitions they have won four, drawn one and lost one. They come up against Benfica next up who have not only lost both of their first two matches but have both failed to keep a clean sheet or score a goal. This suggests that investing in the Real Sociedad defence and attack could be rewarding.
In defence there are several options to pick from. Goalkeeper Alex Remiro. He comes in at one of the cheapest playing prices in the game (€4m). They also have options at full-back like Hamari Traore (€4.5m) who bagged nine points in Matchday 2 due this 10 ball recoveries and clean sheet.
The Real Sociedad front line could also bring about rewards. Brais Mendez (€6.6m) stands out as one of the best attacking options. The midfielder has claimed two double-digit returns in his two Champions League matches so far. Striker Takefusa Kubo (€5m) could be another great pick at his price. Kubo has already picked up five assists and five goals goals for club and country this season. An even cheaper option is Ander Barrenetxea (€4.5m) who is one of the cheapest playing midfielders in the game. He plays on the wing and started in both Matchday 1 and 2.
Feyenoord
Feyenoord are back to their best or at least it seems after claiming the Eredivisie last season. During that domestic league victory they racked up 13 clean sheets, 81 goals and an average at 2.4 goals scored per game. Their overall form has also been impressive. In their last six matches in all competitions they won five and lost just one.
Lazio are up next for Feyenoord. The Italian side have been inconsistent all season so it’s very difficult to know what to expect from them. This could play into the hands of Feyenoord assets whom come into the game with nice price-tags.
In defence, between the sticks managers could opt for Timon Wellenreuther (€4.6m) who hit seven points in Matchday 1 due to his clean sheet. Both full-backs should also be considered. 21-year-old left-back Quilindschy Hartman (€4.6m) shows huge promise. Not only has he been a mainstay for his national side Netherlands but he’s also bagged four attacking returns this campaign. Opposite full-back Lutsharel Geertuida (€4.6m) could also be a good option. He has created a goal and an assist since the start of the season.
In attack Calvin Stengs (€6.1m) is the standout option for budget chasers. Stengs plays just behind the striker, takes freekicks and since joining from French side Nice this season has collected an impressive five assists and three goals. Central midfielder Mats Wiffer (€5m) has ball recovery potential but has also netted twice this season.
Other great budget picks
Newcastle could be another great place to go this week. The Magpies are unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions. Newcastle also sit at the top of the ‘Group of Death’ after beating PSG and drawing to Milan. They also provide some great value players with the likes of defender Fabian Schar (€4.5m) who has helped his side keep five clean sheets in their last seven matches. In attack they also have Anthony Gordon (€5.5m). The midfielder has banked two goals and two assists this season already.
Other great budget picks include Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer (€4.5m), Leipzig full-back David Raum (€4.5m) and Porto midfielder Galeno (€6.6m).
