Tottenham Top Picks for FPL and should we triple up?

The international break is here so whilst many within the community plan ahead we focus on the Tottenham top picks for FPL, which players we should be buying and if we should triple up on their assets using the Fantasy Football Scout members area to help us.

The London based club have become one of the most in-form teams in the league over the course of the new campaign. With that in mind focusing on the Tottenham top picks in FPL could be hugely beneficial when it comes to planning transfers, chip strategy or captaincy.

Fixtures

The fixture ticker below orders the teams at the top with the easiest fixtures and teams at the bottom with the tougher fixtures.

We can see that Tottenham sit first on the ticker with the easiest fixtures over the next five Gameweeks. They face Fulham, Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Wolves and Aston Villa.

The fixtures suggest that we should be investing in the Tottenham assets for the run ahead.

The Tottenham Defence

Its been a great start the season for Tottenham and a large contributing factor to that is their defensive capabilities. So far they rank:

  • Third best for goals conceded (eight).
  • Joint second for clean sheets kept (three).
  • Mid-table for other defensive data points like expected goals conceded, shots on target conceded and big chances conceded.

Some of the Tottenham defenders offer much more than clean sheet potential though so lets take a look who.

The best Tottenham defenders

We can see above that the top four players are the most reliable in terms of minutes with centre-back Van de Ven (£4.5m) leading the pack. In terms of minutes the top four look great moving forward.

We compared the Tottenham defenders in terms of non-penalty expected goal involvement so far. We can see that right-back Pedro Porro (£5.1m) edges every other defensive teammate with 1.53. Centre-back Christian Romero (4.8m) sits second best with 1.31.

The Tottenham full-backs are some of the most statistically attacking in the league so investing in one of them could be wise. The standout option could be Pedro Porro who has increasing gametime and the best attacking threat in terms of non-penalty expected goal involvement.

The Tottenham attack

The biggest reason Tottenham have started the season so well is because of their frontline and there can be no doubts about that. So far this season they sit:

  • Joint fourth best for goals scored (18).
  • The best for total attempts on goal (153).
  • The best for shots in the box (96).
  • The best for shots on target (56).

The best Tottenham attackers

Interestingly, as we can see below Dejan Kulusevski (£7m) has played more minutes than any other attacker. However, the likes of fellow midfielders James Maddison (£8m) and Son Heung-min (£9.4m) rank in the top three for game time.

We then compared the attackers based on non-penalty expected goal involvement. Ranking above any other is James Maddison who produced 5.16. In second it’s of course penalty taker Son Heung-min (4.90) who has recently shifted into a strikers role.

The standout attacker in the Tottenham frontline is a close one but baring in mind he takes penalties and is now playing as a forward it could be Son Heung-min. However, James Maddison is not far behind at all and is absolutely instrumental to their attack.

Should I triple up on the Tottenham attack?

The Tottenham fixtures look brilliant moving forward. Because of that investment in general could be considered as essential, especially when taking into account their form.

Based on the limited options in defence and their impressive attacking numbers investing in a Tottenham full-back looks wise. With that in mind having one of their defenders is advised.

The Tottenham attack are maintaining some brilliant data and with the small gap of potential in between Son and Maddison it could be worth investing in both of them.

The Tottenham triple up looks hugely beneficial moving forward. The best three options are Pedro Porro, Son Heung-min and James Maddison.
