Pep possibly hints at Double Gameweek 36 for Man City
Since the big announcement of match rearrangements that came in early April, one fixture has remained unassigned. Wolves at home to Man City. Its position in either Gameweek 36 or 37 depends on the FA Cup, Europa League and TV rights but we might now have a clue.
Speaking after last night’s win over Brighton, Pep Guardiola mentioned Man City “have three difficult away games with Leeds, Wolves and West Ham.” Maybe the FPL community are overanalysing this comment but – if he’s saying that in the right order – then the trip to Wolves will form a Double Gameweek 36 alongside Newcastle (H).
Major summer overhaul for Man United under Erik ten Hag
At Thursday lunchtime came the official news that Ajax boss Erik ten Hag will be Man United’s new manager from next season. According to the Mirror, at least a dozen players could leave as part of this revolution.
Whilst Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Lee Grant will be out of contract, it could also be farewell to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Alex Telles, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. One player who won’t leave is Donny van de Beek. He’s had two years in the Old Trafford wilderness but was a star player under ten Hag at Ajax.
With this in mind, it should be a fascinating summer in Manchester.
Tuchel isn’t optimistic about Rudiger’s availability
Elsewhere, the minor knock of Antonio Rudiger could cause problems for potential FPL buyers ahead of Double Gameweek 34. It kept him out of Wednesday’s defeat to Arsenal and head coach Thomas Tuchel doesn’t sound confident of an appearance at West Ham. Rudiger’s 2.22 million owners will inevitably be concerned.
