Captaincy is one of the most important decisions a manager can make. Writing up a shortlist of options can be helpful. Picking out the best however, can be even more important for FPL managers.

Fixture ticker

Below you can see teams near the top with the easier fixtures, going all the way down the table to teams with the tougher fixtures. The season ticker can be very helpful. However, won’t always give us the full story on which players make the best captaincy options.

We can see that teams like Aston Villa, West Ham, and Nottingham Forest ranked near the top of the fixture ticker. However, none of those teams have consistent players to rely on for the captaincy.

The options- James Maddison

Leicester rank second on the fixture ticker for having one of the easiest fixtures ahead. This already indicates they could be a team to consider the captaincy in. They face Bournemouth in Gameweek 10. Amongst all teams in the league Leicester are the third worst for goals conceded, the third worst for total attempts conceded and the second worst for attempts on target conceded.

Midfielder James Maddison (£8.1m) has had a fantastic start to the season. The midfield maestro has now notched up five returns. Those returns consist of one double-digit haul. Amongst all teams they are first for chances created, goals scored, big chances scored, attempts on goal and attempts on target. They face Southampton in Gameweek 10.

Erling Haaland (£12.2m) has had a brilliant start to the season. The striker sits as the highest owned and scoring player in FPL. In the eight matches Haaland has played, he has returned in every single one of them. Amongst all players in the league, he ranks first for goals, first for attempts on goal and first for big chances total.

Conclusion

James Maddison is a great option for captain this week. However, Haaland’s stats, his team’s stats and his fixture make him the obvious choice for Gameweek 10. For those reasons, the best captain for Gameweek 10 is Haaland.
