Introduction
After the first triple matchweek of the season it’s been good to take a breath this week before we head into the packed festive period. In this article I will review the gameweek just gone and look ahead to the weekend in Sky Fantasy Football, enjoy!
GW16 Review
Since last week’s article, we’ve had GW16 and the Spurs-West Ham game last Thursday. Briefly on the latter, Son (C) blanked but Bowen’s fortunate goal gave me a small rank rise heading into the weekend.
The weekend began with a Salah (C) haul in the early kick-off and Van Dijk also chipped in with a passing tier. However, the most pleasing haul came from Groß who returned an assist, shot tier and a passing tier against Burnley. He’s been an unreal asset, returning 33 points in four weeks despite being just 13% owned in the top 1K.
Saturday’s good mood soon changed to panic when the Haaland rumours were confirmed on Sunday. Despite his absence, I resisted the temptation to move to Alvarez and decided to hold Haaland. With no guarantees over Son’s fitness either, I moved the captaincy to Bowen who did thankfully return a shot tier. Son (16) and Bissouma (7) made up for Haaland’s absence and made it a very solid gameweek.
Overall, I scored 83 points this week, taking me up to 1.4K overall.

GW17 Transfers and Captains
Looking ahead to GW17, ignoring the flags for now (!). The three captaincy choices look fairly straightforward, Son (FRI), Haaland (SAT) and Salah (SUN). Three of the most consistent assets with strong fixtures. However, Haaland’s availability is uncertain at this stage. Fortunately, we will see the team before locking in the captaincy. My only other option on the Saturday is Sanchez, again, great on paper but he’s flagged as well!
As expected, any transfers I make this weekend will be dependent on Haaland and Sanchez’s status. In an ideal world I wouldn’t be making any transfers. If the worst should happen and neither start, I’ll move Haaland onto Alvarez (C), keeping Sanchez so long as his injury is minor. However, If Sanchez is ruled out for a few weeks, I’ll move him onto Petrovic (Chelsea’s 2nd GK) to maintain cover for the single gameday. If I do this, I may keep Haaland as I won’t need a captain for Saturday. All eyes will be on those team sheets come 2pm Saturday.
I’ll cover the Thursday game in next week’s article, as you can see from the screenshot though, Groß will be my captain (all being well!).
Thanks for reading and good luck for the upcoming gameweek. Remember to set your captains and plan your transfers ahead of another deadline on Saturday!
