Should we use bench boost in Gameweek 29?

We answer the biggest question on the minds of FPL managers as we progress into a huge double Gameweek, should we use bench boost in Gameweek 29? With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area we try to find an answer.

We are heading into one of the most important Gameweeks in the season. Gameweek 29 promises to be one of the biggest rounds of the fantasy season so far and many will be debating the use of a chip. So, should we use bench boost in Gameweek 29?

Fixtures

As we can see from the fixture ticker below, 12 teams play twice in the round ahead which is the largest remaining double Gameweek of the season. This indicates that it could be a fantastic time to utilise one of our chips.

Single Gameweek teams and players

Amongst the double Gameweeks, eight more teams also have fixtures. Within those teams Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City have arguably great fixtures. Some of the highest owned players in the game are amongst these teams. Some of them include:

  • Arsenal defenders Gabriel (£5.2m) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.2m).
  • Arsenal midfielders Bukayo Saka (£8.6m), Gabriel Martinelli (£6.6m) and Martin Odegaard (£6.9m).
  • Manchester City striker Erling Haaland (£12.2m) and midfielder Kevin De Bruyne (£12m).
  • Tottenham striker Harry Kane (£11.8m).

Gameweek 34

Gameweek 34 also has the potential to be a double Gameweek. Teams that are very likely to play two matches include Brighton (versus Wolves and Manchester United or Manchester City), Manchester City (versus Fulham and West Ham or Brighton), Manchester United (versus Aston Villa and Brighton or Chelsea) and West Ham (versus Crystal Palace and Manchester City).

Other teams who are likely to double include Fulham (versus Manchester City and Liverpool) and Liverpool (versus Tottenham and Fulham).

Gameweek 37

Gameweek 37 also has the potential to be a double Gameweek. Teams that are very likely to play two matches include Brighton (versus Southampton and Manchester City or Manchester United, Manchester City (versus Chelsea and Brighton or West Ham), and Manchester United (versus Bournemouth and Chelsea or Brighton).

One team likely to have a double Gameweek is Chelsea (versus Manchester City and Manchester United). Teams with a possible double Gameweek include Fulham (versus Crystal Palace and Liverpool) and Liverpool (versus Aston Villa and Fulham).

Should we bench boost in Gameweek 29?

Of course this is totally team dependent but the short answer is yes. Gameweek 29 promises to be the largest remaining double Gameweek of the season. In addition, well owned assets have great single Gameweek fixtures with their teams. Although there are other smaller opportunities to use the bench boost, now is undoubtably the best time to use it for managers that still have it.
