Introduction
Welcome to my team reveal for Round 2. Here I pen down my thoughts about the team, my transfers if any, and my captain for each upcoming Round. But before that, looking back at the first Round, I scored 92 points in a very high-scoring week that averaged 81 points overall.
All three forwards chipped in with goals and my captain Osimhen scored 28 points with his brace vs. Frosinone. Disappointments were Leao and Casale. Leao had a very off game where he seemed lethargic and only had one shot on target which hit the post.
On the other hand, Sarri surprised everyone by benching Casale. Given that Lazio were poor defensively and ended up losing 1-2 to Lecce, I am sure Casale comes right back into the team so if you have him, keep the faith. For GW2 I am thinking of saving the transfer and playing the same 433 formation from GW1.
Round 2 team reveal
Goalkeepers
- Elia Caprile (€4.2m) – Caprile had a decent game but his one error cost the match for Empoli. He made three saves and ended the Round on six points. In GW2 Empoli play Monza and I think I prefer to start him over Vanja who even though got 10 points in GW1, will be playing Milan away.
Defenders
- Danilo (€6.4m) – Danilo did what Danilo does best in Serie A Fantasy. He ended up with nine points in GW1 with four TBIs (tackles, blocks, interceptions) helping Juventus keep a clean sheet vs. Udinese. I have no issues in starting him again in GW2 where Juventus play a lacklustre Bologna team at home who looked out of sorts vs Milan in GW1.
- Matteo Darmian (€4.8m) – Darmian also did what was expected of him, and kept the
clean sheet. However, ideally I would have liked for him to get the second half clean sheet too. He
starts again for me in GW2 where Inter play Cagliari and I expect a similar result as GW1.
- Nicolo Casale (€4.6m) – He was a disappointment in GW1 as he was benched by Sarri but I do expect him to come back right into the team as Lazio had a dismal defensive performance leading to them losing their GW1 match vs. Lecce. So for now I will start him again and reassess in GW3.
- Rasmus Kristensen (€4.4m) – Another player who didn’t perform was Kristensen. He conceded two goals vs. Salernitana and was taken off around the 65th minute which does not bode well for his clean sheet potential. I will start him again in GW2 and hope for the best but if he does not perform again, he is going to be on the chopping block from GW3 onwards.
Midfielders
- Rafael Leao (€11m) – I expected a lot more from Leao in GW1 but he looked lethargic. As mentioned earlier I am going to keep faith and hope he comes good in GW2 vs. Torino at San Siro. Hopefully, the fully sold out Milan crowd can urge him on to get back to his usual form.
- Teun Koopmeiners (€7m) – Koopmeiners picked up just five points in GW1 with only one shot on target from a corner. His deep-lying position of play is a bit of a concern from GW1 but I will still start him in GW2 where Atalanta play Frosinone. I will reassess in GW3 and move him on to a Rabiot or Candreva, both had great performances in GW1.
- Gabriel Strefezza (€5.4m) – I will be starting Strefezza in GW2 vs Fiorentina as he looked good in GW1 vs Lazio even though he didn’t score or assist. I am hoping he gets chances vs Fiorentina as Italiano loves to play an expansive style of football leaving spaces in behind for players like Strefezza to run into. Also, my other midfielder El Shaarawy was just a GW1 punt as Dybala is back now for Roma and thus Shaarawy won’t start the GW2 game.
Forwards
- Victor Osimhen (€12m) – My captain for GW1 did not disappoint as he ended with a brace and 14 points to his name. Napoli looked like a team who were continuing their form from last season even without their influential left-winger Kvaradona. Napoli play Sassuolo at home and Osimhen is definitely in the captaincy thinking again.
- Lautaro Martinez (€11m) – Lautaro showed why the Inter management did the right thing by making him captain. Martinez was lethal in front of goal getting two goals vs. Monza, and looks set to continue as Inter’s talisman goalscorer. They are up against promoted side Cagliari and I would be surprised if Lautaro didn’t end up on the score sheet again.
- Ciro Immobile (€10.6m) – I was right in going for Ciro Immobile in GW1, although he could have easily got a brace as well given he had some great chances to put Lecce away. I expect him to do well again when Lazio play Genoa at home in Round 2. If GW1 is anything to go by, Immobile will get a heap of chances vs a team that conceded four goals vs Fiorentina and leave a lot of gaps in behind.
Captaincy
At the moment of writing this article, my captaincy is on Ciro Immobile but Victor Osimhen is also in the running as I am a bit scared of his EO of 72.5% and most of the managers who own him will be captaining him.
It’s a decision that is going to go down to the wire tomorrow before the deadline, I will try and let
everyone know on Twitter before the deadline so make sure you are following me on there @FplRossoneri.
