Gameweek 29 Best Wildcard Team
This draft would give owners 11 players for the Blank Gameweek, nice assets looking at the schedule ahead and £6m in the bank to make future upgrades.
Goalkeepers
Fulham have some fantastic fixtures after their Blank Gameweek 29 match against Tottenham so it could be worth investing in Bernd Leno (£4.8m). His fixtures rotate well with Chelsea’ Dorde Petrovic (£4.5m) who also has a great schedule after this week.
Defenders
Tottenham don’t just play in Gameweek 29 but they also have great fixtures after that. Their standout defensive option is Pedro Porro (£5.7m) who has returned in a huge 14 of his matches so far this season.
Joining at the back is Brentford’ Sergio Reguilon (£4.4m). This is partly due to his sides Gameweek 29 fixture against Burnley but also because his team sit near the top of the fixture ticker for the period ahead. Not only is Reguilon cheap but he also has attacking potential – producing an assist in three of his last six league matches.
Nottingham Forest have better fixtures than any other side in the period ahead. They come up against some very poor teams which someone like Neco Williams (£4.3m) could take advantage of. Williams plays this week and comes in with an enabling price-tag.
The Chelsea fixtures are lovely after the Blank so benching someone like Malo Gusto (£4.2m) this week ready for next could be a wise move. Gusto has been starting every match for Chelsea recently and he has also managed two assists in his last four matches.
Arsenal do not have a fixture this week but they do have the best defence in the league so far. That coupled with his consistency this season and fixtures ahead makes Gabriel (£5.3m) a very good long-term hold.
Midfielders
West Ham are in very good scoring form going into their good period of fixtures ahead. Their standout attacker is Jarrod Bowen (£7.9m) who leads his teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement and has hit 17 goal contributions already this season.
Tottenham have both a nice fixture against Fulham ahead and a great schedule after that. Based on that and their recent form it could be worth doubling up on the Tottenham attack. Son Heung-Min (£9.9m) could be the best option due to his outstanding form this season and penalty taking duty. James Maddison (£8m) stands out as the next best attacking Spurs option after picking up four returns in his last six matches.
Benefitting from Aston Villa’ goals has been tough recently due to the high ownership of Ollie Watkins. However, one way to get past that is by investing in Douglas Luiz (£5.7m). Luiz isn’t just the designated penalty taker but he is also in good form – returning five times in his last six matches. He is also very safe in terms of gametime unlike some of his teammates.
It is hard to ignore that Nottingham Forest sit top of the ticker for the run ahead. They also have a lovely Blank Gameweek 29 fixture against Luton. One of the cheapest routes in the Nottingham Forest attack is Anthony Elanga (£5.1m). Elanga edges his teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement recently.
Forwards
Ollie Watkins (£9m) remains the highest scoring player in FPL due to his consistency and explosiveness this season. He has been excellent so far and could have huge potential in his next two matches. We have left money in the bank to upgrade Watkins to Erling Haaland (£14.5m) if managers decide it in the coming weeks.
We have already emphasised the Brentford fixtures ahead so it makes sense to bring in their best attacker, Ivan Toney (£8.1m). Prior to his recent slump in form Toney showed his potential with five returns in a five-match period.
Newcastle do not play this week and have been out of sorts but they have also scored10 goals in the last four league matches. That added to their potential double Gameweek ahead and the fact he takes penalties could make Alexander Isak (£7.5m) a nice addition. The Swede has also managed a goal in each of his last two matches which could suggest he is entering a purple patch of form.
