@FPLReaction’ top three picks for Gameweek 4

With the new round edging closer we bring in Fantasy Football Community and Fantasy Football Scout contributor @FPLReaction’ (Louis) to reel off his top three picks for Gameweek 4.

The early rounds are good opportunities to get off to a great start. Here I will give you my top three picks for Gameweek 4 to try and help with that. There are some very obvious options with huge potential for the first round and whilst I will list them, I will also provide you with three different picks who I think could also do well.

The obvious options

  • Bukayo Saka
  • Bryan Mbeumo
  • Yoane Wissa
  • Ben Chilwell
  • Nicolas Jackson
  • Phil Foden
  • Erling Haaland
  • Bruno Fernandes
  • James Maddison
  • Jarrod Bowen

Ollie Watkins

Not many people will be comfortable with this pick this week but there are several factors backing it. One of those factors is how potent Aston Villa look going forward. In the three matches they have played already they have netted eight times – ranking second highest just behind Brighton. Villa have also been sustaining some great underlying stats – one of them being that they sit second best for big chances total (12).

Liverpool may look tough on paper and I don’t blame anyone for actually thinking that but we have to take couple of things into account. In their first three matches the Reds failed to keep a single clean sheet which echo’s their 22/23 season stats where they conceded more big chances than most other sides in the division. Liverpool have also lost their main centre-back Virgil Van Dijk through suspension so they look like even more of a team to target.

Ollie Watkins (£8m) was heavily sold for Nicolas Jackson recently but a lot of people in the community have questioned that move due to the strikers form. Watkins has bagged a return in every game he’s played so far. He also ranks amongst the top six players in the league for non-penalty expected goal involvement. All indicators point towards a big day for Watkins and I think he could have a very successful Gameweek.

Michail Antonio

How good have West Ham been at the start of the season? Some would call it lucky and some would call it perfect management from David Moyes but either way they have stuck to their game-plan and played it perfectly.

The Hammers’ early results are very impressive but the amount of goals their scoring is even more convincing. The fact they managed to score three past both Chelsea and Brighton reinforces the form of their attackers.

West Ham come up against arguably the worst side in the league next, Luton. The Hatters are visibly struggling to meet the standards of the Premier League and because of that and their severely worrying defensive data, they are a team to target.

Many are looking to talisman Jarrod Bowen but are aslo completely overlooking Michail Antonio (£6.1m). Antonio leads the Hammers attacking line and looks to have started the season as sharp as ever – He has already managed two returns in his first three matches with both coming against Chelsea and Brighton. Based on the above we could see West Ham add to their impressive goal total this week and you can guarantee Antonio will be involved and so was a no brainer in my top three picks for Gameweek 4.

Enzo Fernandez

There’s no surprise managers are flocking to the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling this week. The Chelsea attack looks much better than it has in recent campaigns and there is lots of different factors contributing to that.

The Blues come up against a Nottingham Forest sides who although look good on the counter-attack, they also look very ropey at the back. I mean, the fact they are averaging two goals conceded per game just highlights that.

FPL managers don’t like picking central midfielders and that’s no secret but I really believe Enzo Fernandes (£5m) is becoming a decent asset. Yes he tends to play in the middle of the park but he’s finding himself in very attacking situations from shots inside the box to some outside. It’s also worth mentioning that he takes the Chelsea freekicks, corners and took the last penalty. Enzo is also their most creative player – he sits first amongst their attackers for chances created (eight).

Enzo may not be completely convincing but his stats are solid and he also netted in Chelsea’ most recent cup game. I think he has lots of different routes to points and believe he has a great chance of returning against Forest this week.
