@FPLReaction’ top three picks for FPL Gameweek 5

With the new round edging closer we bring in Fantasy Football Community and Fantasy Football Scout contributor @FPLReaction’ (Louis) to reel off his top three picks for FPL Gameweek 5.

The early rounds are good opportunities to get off to a great start. Here I will give you my top three picks for FPL Gameweek 5 to try and help with that. There are some very obvious options with huge potential for the first round and whilst I will list them, I will also provide you with three different picks who I think could also do well.

The obvious options

  • Bukayo Saka
  • Ben Chilwell
  • Nicolas Jackson
  • Mohamed Salah
  • Erling Haaland
  • Phil Foden
  • Julian Alvarez
  • Marcus Rashford
  • Bruno Fernandes
  • Destiny Udogie
  • James Maddison
  • Son Heung-min

Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal have a great opportunity to continue their great start to the season this week. They have already managed to score two or more goals in three of their first four matches and I think they will maintain that scoring form in Gameweek 5.

Everton have been very poor this season and I think a lot of that lays with Jordan Pickford who has maintained one of the worst expected goals prevented amongst all goalkeepers so far. The Toffees have failed to keep a single clean sheet so far as well so it could be a big day for the Arsenal attackers.

Many will look to Bukayo Saka but if we remember back prior to the season Gabriel Jesus played huge part in the template. The Brazilian looks set to start this week and after a convincing 14 minute feature last match where he scored I think he could come back with a bang.

Darwin Nunez

There has been a lack of striker options this season but this week we could see a return in appeal. Liverpool have been sharp in attack as many expected them – winning three of their first four matches whilst also racking up nine goals. With that, investment in the Liverpool frontline could be hugely rewarding, especially when considering their upcoming opponents.

Its been a tough start to the season for Wolves. Other than scraping a win against strugglers Everton things are not looking great. In the other three matches they played so far they conceded a huge eight goals which is a lot more than many expected from a Wolves side who usually maintain solid defensive data.

Another player I think could do well this week is Darwin Nunez. He was instrumental in his feature against Newcastle when he came on and netted twice to win the game. He carried that form into Aston Villa and the international break where he registered an assist for both.

Carlton Morris

During the international break news broke that Luton would have a double Gameweek in Gameweek 7. This drew a lot of attention to the Hatters as expected. Although it has been a tough start to the campaign for them Luton do have a great fixture this week.

Fulham lay ahead for Luton this week. The Cottagers have been conceding some very poor defensive data this season already. When compared to every other side in the division they rank third worst for shots in the box conceded (52), the worst for shots on target conceded (32) and the worst for big chances conceded (17).

Many within the community will be looking to bring Carlton Morris in and bench him until the double. That may be the case but I believe this week could be a good one based on Fulham’ dire defensive data. We also have to remember Morris is the focal point to the Luton attack and also takes their penalties.
