FPL: Planning for Gameweek 29 and 30

Here we do some FPL planning for Gameweek 29 and 30. Accessing the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area we utilise the fixture ticker and underlying statistics to find the best teams to target, best players to buy and the best chips to use for the period ahead.

Planning for Gameweek 29 and 30 could be absolutely crucial. With Blanks and Doubles ahead many within the community could be unsure as to what their plans could be. Here we can help bring clarity to that.

Gameweek 29 and 30 Fixtures

Blank Gameweek 29

As we can see from the ticker above, most teams do not have a match in Gameweek 29. This is something we need to take into account when trying to pick out the best teams and players to invest in.

Who has the best fixtures?

Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Fulham, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Burnley, Luton and West Ham all rank amongst the teams with the best fixtures because they both play twice in the next two rounds.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Brighton, Arsenal, Manchester City, Wolves and Crystal Palace all rank in the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures. This is due to the fact that none have fixtures in Gameweek 29.

Best Teams and Players to Invest in

Tottenham are one of the better sides playing in both Gameweeks. Luton and Fulham lay ahead for them, two matches their assets will have plenty of potential going into.

The standout attacking option remains Son Heung-Min (£9.8m). Son has picked up a goal and an assist in his three matches since returning from the Asia Cup. He also edges his teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement and takes his sides penalties. Another great option could be fellow midfielder James Maddison (£7.9m). Maddison looks nailed in terms of minutes long-term and has picked up at least one return in 10 of his 16 games so far.

In defence the best of the bunch could be Pedro Porro (£5.7m) who has registered seven assists this season. He is recovering from an injury so a safer option could be fellow full-back Destiny Udogie (£4.9m). Although not as attacking as Porro, he has still managed five attacking returns and comes in cheaper.

Aston Villa investment could also be crucial for FPL managers. They have been excellent this season overall and have meetings with West Ham and Wolves in the next two matches.

Leading the ruthless attack is of course the highest scoring player in the game currently, Ollie Watkins (£9m). Watkins could be an essential for the next two rounds after a mammoth 16 goals and 10 assists already this season.

Other attacking options include midfielders Douglas Luiz (£5.7m) and Leon Bailey (£5.7m). Luiz takes his sides penalties and has returned in four of his last five matches where-as Bailey is more advanced than his teammate and has hit returns in four out of five of his last matches.

For those looking into the Aston Villa defence then Matty Cash (£4.6m) has been dominating the gametime recently. Cash has started the last five matches but does lack in attacking potential.

Who else could we buy?

Nottingham Forest sit at the top of the ticker with games against Luton and Crystal Palace, so it would be harsh to leave them out.

They have multiple attacking options like striker Taiwo Awoniyi (£6.3m) who leads the frontline. Morgan Gibbs-Wite (£5.7m) is another great option, he also takes his sides penalties. However, edging both of those options for non-penalty expected goal involvement in the last six Gameweeks is Anthony Elanga (£5.1m).

Other great assets with potential include Brentford’ main man and penalty taker Ivan Toney (£8.1m), the in-form Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz (£4.5m), and West Ham midfielders Jarrow Bowen (£7.9m) and Mohammed Kudus (£6.8m).

Should we use a chip?

Planning for Gameweek 29 will also require the use of chips. For those who have wildcarded ahead of this period then none of the chips should need your attention.

For those with less than six or seven players for Blank Gameweek 29 then it could be worth using the Free Hit. This allows you to have a full squad and gives you the opportunity for a green arrow.

Those that are dead-ending their teams into Gamweek 29 using transfers alone, then using the Wildcard will probably be wise when it comes to Gameweek 30.
