Arsenal – The Gooners have fixtures against Wolves and Luton which could be a great opportunity to invest in them both defensively and offensively. The best defender in terms of minutes is centre-back William Saliba (£5.4m) who also scored in his most recent match. The standout attacker is midfielder Bukayo Saka (£8.7m) who take his sides penalties and has banked returns in all but two of his matches so far.

Liverpool – The Reds also rank near the top of the difficulty ticker with clashes against Fulham and Sheffield United. The fixtures ahead indicate that managers should be looking to buy into both the defence and attack. At the back the cheapest way in is Kostas Tsimikas (£4.7m). The Greek international has attacking potential and we saw that with his two assists in Gameweek 12. Another more expensive pick is right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.9m). Trent has managed three returns in his last four games. In attack the best option is midfielder Mohamed Salah (£13m). The Egyptian has collected a massive five double-digit hauls this season and takes his sides penalties. Another attacking option in great form is striker Darwin Nunez (£7.6m). He has amassed a return in four of his last five league games.

Who else should we targeting?

Crystal Palace – They have two great matches against Bournemouth and West Ham. There are plenty of options in defence. Between the sticks is Sam Johnstone (£4.7m) who sits as the second highest scoring goalkeeper in the game. In defence leading non-penalty expected goal involvement is centre-back Joachim Anderson (£5.2m). For those looking to go cheaper then Tyrick Mitchell (£4.7m) could be a good pick. He also scored in one of his most recent game. The standout attacker is midfielder Eberechi Eze (£6.1m). Eze picked up a return in both of his matches upon return from injury but also takes his sides set pieces and penalties. We should also consider striker Odsonne Edouard (£5.5m). He racked up three returns in his first five games and scored in his latest match.

Other assets with potential

Dominic Solanke (£6.5m) – Bournemouth come up against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace next. Solanke comes in at a great price, leads his attack and takes his sides penalties.

Kieran Trippier (£7m) – Manchester United and Everton lay ahead. Newcastle have been maintaining great underlying defensive data and Trippier has produced six assists so far as well as being best amongst defenders for chances and big chances created.

Bryan Mbeumo (£6.9m) – Brentford face Luton and Brighton next who are two teams who have failed to keep a single clean sheet so far. Mbeumo has managed eight goal contributions so far, takes penalties and leads all but two midfielders this season for non-penalty expected goal involvement so far.

Jarrod Bowen (£7.7m) – The Hammers have Crystal Palace and Tottenham next up which could be a great chance for the in-form Bowen to extend his run. The winger has picked up a return in eight of his last 12 matches.

Erling Haaland (£14m) – The Norwegian has been relentless as of late – claiming nine goals in his last six matches. He leads the best side in the league up top and takes his teams penalties.

Cole Palmer (£5.2m) – Chelsea have matches against Manchester United and Brighton next and although tough on paper both have been leaking goals. The cheapest and most effective way into the Chelsea attack is Palmer. Not only does he take his sides penalties but he ranks second amongst his teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement in the last six matches.

Should we use a chip?

FPL Gameweek 14 and 15 forward planning should also include the use of chips.

The most experienced managers usually use their Bench Boost, Triple Captain and Free Hit chip during medium or large blank and double Gameweeks. It could however be a fantastic time to use the Wildcard due to the major fixture swings ahead and rapidly increasing player price-tags of in-form players with good schedules.
