FPL Experts React to Gameweek 38

In this article our FPL experts react to Gameweek 38. Most of the community weren’t sure which way to go for the final round. Some were unsure whether to take a risk with captaincy and others weren’t convinced in which player to bring in. So, let’s take a look at some of the key moments in the final round.

Which players should we buy? Which teams should we invest in? Our community posts have answered those questions for most of the season. So, for one final time lets take a look as our FPL experts react to Gameweek 38.

@FPLMarcin

Ahead of Gameweek 38, many within the community felt that Crystal Palace were the team to invest in. Recent impressive form for the Eagles and a lack of motivation for their opposition suggested that their players could do well.

A lot of those managers opted for Michael Olise who hit six points for his assist. However, teammate and fellow midfielder Eberechi Eze bagged a huge 18 points for his two goals and one assist, whilst striker Jean Philippe Mateta racked up an whopping 20 points due to his three goals and one assist.

Andy was of course involved again as he highlighted one player in particular. Manchester City continued their run of league title wins in Gameweek 38 as they picked apart West Ham in their 3-1 win. Foden finished the season with a mammoth 230 points and his 15-point return on the final day helped him edge other players like Ollie Watkins, Bukayo Saka and several others.

One player who wasn’t amongst the Manchester City goals in Gameweek 38 was Erling Haaland. The Norwegian was of course a standout captaincy option prior to the round. But he flopped which left managers wishing they opted for a differential instead.

@Greyhead19

Tottenham were another team FPL managers chose to back on the final day. This is mostly because they faced the relegated Sheffield United, the side who maintained the worst defensive numbers in the league for most of the campaign.

Those who chose to back Tottenham players were rewarded after they dismantled the Blades in a 3-0 win. Son Heung-Min collected seven points for his assist, James Maddison and Brennan Johnson also registered an assist. But, it was Pedro Porro who stole the show after notching up 14 points for his goal and clean sheet.

@FPLGOAT7

FPL GOAT emphasised the importance of one particular decision. Rumours circulated that both Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak were out of the starting line-up ahead of their match against Brentford. Whilst that was the case for Gordon it was not for Isak.

Due to the above many chose to bench or sell Isak. As many know, that move backfired massively as the Newcastle striker banked a huge 14 points because of his two assists and one goal. Other goals came from Harvey Barnes and Bruno Guimaraes.

@ZhouFPL

Arsenal were of course a popular side in terms of investment over the course of the season. They faced a stubborn Everton side in the final round and the Toffees held their ground until the latter minutes. The winning goal came from Kai Havertz who claimed six points.

Others hoped for at least a clean sheet after the news came that Bukayo Saka wasn’t going to make the squad. However, a goal from Idrissa Gueye meant that Gabriel, David Raya, Ben White and William Saliba owners were left frustrated.
