FPL: Best Defenders in 23/24 - Fantasy Football Community

The final balls have been kicked in the Premier League season so we take a look back at the best defenders in 23/24. Using the Official Fantasy Premier League app we can check out the top 10 highest scoring defenders and how they earned their points.

Its been a long season in many aspects and it’s a great time to look back and reflect on some of the highlights. Reminding ourselves of the best defenders in 23/24 could be super helpful when looking ahead to the new season.

The Top 5

1. Ben White – 182 Points

It may come as no surprise that an Arsenal defender tops the list. The Gooners have kept more clean sheets than any other side in the league last season after all. Leading the way for defender points in the 23/24 campaign was Ben White with 182.

As well as claiming 18 clean sheets that season White also produced four goal, five assists and 14 bonus points. The full-backs highest return of the season came against Chelsea in the form of a mammoth 20 points. His points were mostly due to two goals and three bonus.

2. William Saliba – 164 Points

A huge 18 points behind his teammate and sitting in second place for the 23/24 campaign was William Saliba. The Frenchman has been incredible this season and played a huge role in securing 18 clean sheets for his side.

Saliba also managed two goals, one assist and 13 bonus points for his efforts. His most successful Gameweek and only double-digit haul of the season was against West Ham in Gameweek 24. There he scored and kept a clean sheet to claim 12 points.

3. Gabriel – 149 Points

Incredibly, three Arsenal players made up the top three highest scoring defenders in the 23/24 campaign. This is of course was due to Arsenal’ clean sheet record. Gabriel was another of their defenders to benefit as he struck 149 points.

Although two clean sheets short of his teammates Gabriel managed 16, along with four goals and eight bonus points. The Brazilian banked two more double-digit hauls than his centre-back teammate Saliba. His biggest of the three was the 17 points he hit against Crystal Palace for his goal, assist, clean sheet and two bonus.

4. Pedro Porro – 136 Points

Tottenham full-back Pedro Porro comes in at fourth with 136 points. Tottenham struggled for large parts of the season defensively which meant Porro amassed a small total of seven clean sheets. However it was his attacking qualities that helped him towards his total. In fact Porro created eight assists whilst scoring three goals.

5. Jarrad Branthwaite – 124 Points

It may come as a surprise but Everton racked up the second most clean sheets in the Premier League during the 23/24 campaign. One of the players to benefit from that impressive stat was Jarrad Branthwaite. The young centre-back picked up 124 points due to 12 clean sheets, three goals and one assist.
