Introduction
The international break is almost over, they are always frustrating at the start of the season but there’s only one more to go before the busy winter schedule! In the following article, I will review the GW8 and look ahead to GW9 in Sky Fantasy Football.
GW8 Review
Overall, GW8 was a bit of a shocker. No clean sheet, two unexpected absentees in Beyer and Awoniyi and Bissouma’s red card. On the Saturday I transferred out Saka for Son to captain versus Luton only for him to blank. Hopefully, he will come good for the two upcoming single-game days.
I must confess, life got in the way and when I logged onto the app at 14.01 last Sunday I had missed the deadline for transfers. In the end, the damage wasn’t too bad however I did miss out on Saliba’s clean sheet and passing tier. Thankfully, Diaby blanked against Wolves. Despite my mistake, the rank held firm due to Salah’s 32-point haul as my captain and Lewis Dunk’s late goal. Those two players contributed the bulk of my 59 points for the week.

GW9 Transfers and Captains
This week is a week to set my team up for the rest of October and November. I could potentially make as many as four transfers if I decide to be aggressive.
Saliba, Maddison, Bowen and Watkins are on my ‘want’ list. Thiago Silva, Colwill, Awoniyi and Rashford are on the potential out list. I could do all four if I moved for Saliba early and sacrificed Colwill v Arsenal, with just one passing tier all season that’s something I would be happy to do. Watkins and Maddison for Rashford and Awoniyi is very likely, a Villa player is essential and I’m keen to take advantage of Spurs’ Monday/Friday combination. Thiago Silva to Bowen would be more of a luxury move that I’ll have to weigh up in the upcoming days.
I’ll be keeping an ear out for Beyer news as well, although Burnley injury updates have been very scarce this season.
Captaincy is fairly straightforward for me. Haaland on Saturday, Watkins on Sunday and Son on Monday.
In other news, the final November TV selections were announced over the international break. The standout news from a Sky perspective is the Wolves v Fulham single game day on Monday 27th November. It may well be a skip and I certainly won’t be investing early. Leno and Neto are the two standout picks at this stage. Elsewhere, Spurs look good for another captaincy on Sunday 26th November, as they host Villa with Everton v Man Utd the only other match.
Thanks for reading and good luck for the upcoming game week. Remember to set your captains and plan your transfers! Hopefully, I will remember to make mine…
