Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 2 Top Picks

With the new season kicking into gear, managers are already looking for the standout options for the upcoming round. Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 2 Top Picks highlights the best players to consider based on form, fixtures, and early performances.

In this article, @Big4FPL‘s break down the key names worth targeting and how they can give your fantasy team the edge this matchday.

We’re back into the swing of the Bundesliga highs and lows – week 1 started with a bang with Kane and Olise hitting massive hauls in a 6-0 win, then threw in pain with Dortmund capitulating vs Pauli, including a red card for budget hero (now villain) Mane.

In saying that, I’m off to a respectable start, hitting over 3,000 points and sitting and 3.5k rank after week 1 – let’s hope some of these picks can boost that rank further ahead of the first unlimited transfer window.

Defenders

David Raum – 13m

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 2 Top Picks

If you remove the six (!) goals conceded on Friday night, Raum comfortably would have hit 200 points and that is despite having zero chances to show the attacking upside that Raum brings. Now the captain of Leipzig, there’s no question he keeps his place and a strong MD2 fixture is a chance for the roaming left back to bounce back with a bang.

Alejandro Grimaldo – 18.98m

Last season Grimaldo couldn’t hit the highs of the year prior, but Leverkusen being a worse for wear seems to help Grimaldo from the duals won perspective, meaning if he can layer on any assists (as he did at the weekend) then he could be in for a big season. Werder lost 4-1 to Frankfurt at the weekend, so this should be a good opportunity for Grimaldo to haul again.

Miro Muheim – 8.13m

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 2 Top Picks

One of my picks that saved my defence last week, Muheim now has a Friday night fixture vs Pauli to further return. Although duals were key in MD1, I expect Muheim to show more of his attacking output in week 2 and still only at 4% owned is a great differential pick (even after a price rise).

Midfielders

Patrick Wimmer – 8.11m

When the prices were revealed, Wimmer looked severely underpriced based on last season’s returns. But, there was uncertainty around minutes and how Wolfsburg would look under a new manager. Wimmer put this to rest in week 1, returning one assist but over 280 points – another decent fixture vs a Mainz team with a midweek Europe game is a good chance at further returns.

Farès Chaïbi – 7.18m

Frankfurt started their season with a bang, despite a raft of changes in their front line vs last season. Chaibi provides a nice budget option to jump on a team looking really in form and still at a very respectable price.

Ibrahim Maza – 5.8m

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 2 Top Picks

Included in my picks last week, Maza returned a solid if unspectacular 138 points. As noted for Grimaldo, Werder should provide a much easier game for Leverkusen and I expect the youngster to get a bit more success in the final third of the pitch.

Forwards

Patrik Schick – 11.19m

Keeping with the Leverkusen picks, Schick is firmly first choice striker with Boniface seemingly wanting a move/out of favour. Although I personally am on Kane and Guirassy right now, moving one of them on to Schick this week could be on the cards to capitalize on the fixture.

Luis Diaz – 20.84m

A very expensive pick, but certainly looks worth the money on week ones showing. Diaz seems to fit seamlessly into the Bayern front line and at 3m cheaper than Kane could really be an alternative – especially when you consider he will rack up more dribble/cross/dual points than Kane does.

Jean-Mattéo Bahoya – 7.87m

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 2 Top Picks

The Frankfurt man started the season with a bang, I think a lot of the community would have had him as a nailed on pick if he was classified as a midfielder, but being classed as a striker only ended up 4% owned – maybe a consideration going forwards to opt for cheaper strikers and push the funds into midfield/defence.
